Tadhg Crowley Plate. Aghada 1-9  Ballincollig 1-7

The senior footballers qualified for the Tadhg Crowley Plate Final on Sunday morning on a sunny morning in Ballincollig.

It was a seriously good performance and the win was thoroughly deserved. The first half was very competitive but two very good scores from Pearse O Neill and another fron Stephen O Keeffe meant we went in at the break level at three points apiece.

Stevie put us ahead after the break with another point before a scrappy deflected goal and a point put Ballincollig three points clear. Instead of the heads going down, the lads raised their game and began to rack up the points. Stevie and Pearse were trading scores and the home team were kept scoreless for a good twenty minutes of the second half. The crucial score came when Aaron Berry netted his first senior goal. This seemed to drive Ballincollig on and the started to pull it back with a few good scores. Bill Hennessy took a black card for the side with less than five minutes to go to save a probable goal. That point was the last of the game and there was a genuinely great feeling among the players as we look forward to a final in February.

Well done to all the lads between management and panel.

Minor Football. Sat 31st January in Rostellan,

Premier 1 league Aghada 4-1 Ballincollig 0-11.

The minors got their season off to a great start with a hard earned win over Ballincollig on a very cold Saturday evening in Rostellan. They had a bit of spring in their step on the last day of winter. Man of the Match Cein O'Driscoll opened up the Ballincollig defence with a very strong run and finished the ball to the back of the net to get the first score of the game. Ballincollig got the next three points before another fine solo run by wing forward Matthew Kidney got Aghada’s point which turned out to be our only point of the game. First half score Aghada 1-1 Ballincollig 0-5.

Goals win matches and that is what this team will be very good at .They showed that with two from Kevin O Hanlon and one from Jordan Tynan in the second half. The defence worked very well together .Good performances by James Gilroy who reads the game very well. Mark Healy. Aaron Butler. Ed Leahy. Kalen O'Donoghue carries the ball very well from defence. Dara Murphy in goals
