Tom Creedon Cup: The Glenville intermediate footballers started off the season with a well-deserved victory against a dogged Glanmire side. Glenville made the short journey down to Glanmire for the first round of the tom Creedon cup playing against a strong breeze in the first half Glenville made well use of the possession with some great hand passing from the half back line and creating loads of scoring opportunities and a Dilian O’Donovan goal had the away team up and running. Glenville continued their dominance in every sector of the field by putting fierce pressure on the Glanmire forward line and not giving them any chance to score a quick break out the counter saw ben Halbert chip in for a point and a Paudi Cahill free minutes later has Glenville up by 5 points. Glanmire broke on the counter but the brilliance of the Glenville full backline had them in their tracks and turned possession over and was on the counter attack a long ball that fell to ben Halbert turned and hit the ball into the back off the Glanmire net. Glanmire who were completely out of form hit their first point on the stoke of half time and it stood at the interval Glenville 2-2 Glanmire 0-1. Glenville continued their dominance in the second half and points from Dilian O’Donovan, Paudi Cahill, and Ciarn Coakley had Glenville in a commanding lead. There was some improvement from Glanmire but only managed 2 points in the second half saw Glenville run out convincing winners on a score line of Glenville 2-7 Glanmire 0-3.
