Junior B Hurling League;
The league playoff on last Wednesday 5th November turned out to be a great game of hurling that took extra time to separate the sides with the younger Sars legs eventually getting them over the line.
Cloyne opened the scoring straight from the throw in with a fine James Nyhan point from play that was quickly cancelled out by Sars,a Brian O’Shea point briefly had us ahead again only to be cancelled out again by a another Sars free.
An excellent point from the sideline had Sars ahead for the first time but our response was excellent with 1.03 without reply pushing us 4 points ahead, Ciaran Mullins with the goal,2 points from Dave Ring and a fine Anthony Quinlan effort from play.Sars responding with 3 points of their own to close the gap which we quickly cancelled out with points from Brian,Dave and Mike Naughton to leave us 5 ahead heading to half time.The final 4 points off the half were scored by Sars to leave just the minimum between us at the break with us 1.08 to 10 points ahead.
The game was leveled immediately on the restart with Sars scoring from play,2 Dave Ring points from frees and James Nyhan and Mike Naughton with points put us a goal ahead and playing very well.Sars came back again to level with 3 pointed frees but when Dave scored the point of the night following a short sideline and James pointed from play we were 2 ahead entering the final 5 minutes.
The decisive score of the game followed when an effort for a Sars point hit the post and fell kindly for the corner forward to finish smartly putting them 1 ahead entering injury time.The final play of the game saw us win a free which Dave Ring scored to send the game to extra time 1.15 to 1.15.
The first half of extra time couldn’t separate the sides with 2 points each scored Dave and James our scorers.The second half with a lot of tiring limbs was all Sars and they scored 1.02 without reply to progress 2.19 to 1.17.
A great effort by everyone on the night.

Junior B Football League.
The Junior footballers like their hurling counterparts were involved in a league playoff when the took on Killeagh on Saturday last in Killeagh.
A relatively young team minus a few regulars gave a great account of themselves despite losing 2.12 to 1.06. The damage was done in the first have with the concession of two goals even though we recovered to be only 4 points down at the break 2.06 to 1.05 with Luke Cullinane the goalscorer.
The second half was a tighter affair with scores at a premium and we could only add one more point to our tally.
Our thanks to all players and team management for their efforts during the year.
