League Title;
Our junior 'B' hurlers overcame many obstacles to win the Division 3 East Cork League title on Wednesday night, Nov 12th 2014. Sarsfields provided a strong challenge and fought very hard throughout the game but our boys managed to absorb tremendous pressure to see them off. The weather also provided a stiff challenge to both teams but Killeagh seemed to cope better and used the elements to their advantage when the opportunities presented themselves. The old saying that 'Goals win matches' was certainly true for this encounter. Killeagh had two fine goals on the board after fifteen minutes of play and added another killer one from a penalty at the start of the second half to set up a well deserved victory. After sixty minutes of fine hurling by both sets of players in difficult conditions, Killeagh won a free in the heart of their defence. Goalkeeper Colin Walsh steadied himself over the ball and launched a massive puck deep into Sarsfields territory. The ball broke from captain Colm Crowley to Eamon Byrne and he calmly stroked over a sweet, sweet point to claim a victory. Team manager Liam Kelly was absolutely delighted with the performance of his lads and said that the victory was achieved because everyone played together and for each other, a real team effort. His words were echoed by selector John Walsh who also praised the troops for their dedication to the team throughout the season and not just on the night. Ray Rochford pointed out that Kenneth Budds has now added another medal to his collection which began by winning the U12 title back in 1984, Liam Kelly also played with that U12 team and tonights victory was further reward for these lads who have given tremendous service to Killeagh GAA club. Congratulations and well done to all and especially to Liam Kelly and John Walsh who looked after the team this season. Final score was Killeagh 3-06 Sarsfields 0-14.
The Killeagh team, who became the first in our club to win an East Cork Title with a Third Team, was: C Walsh, B Wharton, N O'Connor, D Motherway, K Budds, B Keniry, S Lucey, T Crotty, D Coleman, P Keniry, G Collins, D Long, E Byrne, C Crowley, K Fennelly. Subs: E Murphy, J Walsh, M Fitzgerald, L Kelly.
League Play-Off;
Our junior 'B' footballers had an impressive win against Cloyne in Killeagh on Saturday evening, Nov 15th 2014 and so reach a league final. It was very much a free flowing game aided by mostly favourable conditions on the night and two lively and enthusiastic teams. Glenbower started much better with a point inside the first minute from open play courtesy of Noel 'Dip' O'Connor. After fifteen minutes of play, Glenbower were ahead by five points with the score at 1-04 to 0-02, points coming from Dylan Coleman(play), Brian McCarthy(free) and Shane Smiddy(free) and a goal from 'Dip'. On twenty-five minutes Rovers were in complete control and were up by nine points with the score at 2-06 to 0-03. The two points were from Dylan and Shane from play and another goal from 'Dip'. Cloyne came into the game a little bit more in the final five minutes of the first half and put 1-02 on the board while Glenbower added a point to their tally with a point from midfielder Brendan Delaney. There was a very heavy shower of rain when the players started the second half with Glenbower ahead on a scoreline of 2-07 to 1-05 but they quickly got into their stride. As the shower disappeared, the first score in the second half was a point from play courtesy of  'Dip'. Cloyne replied almost immediately with a point of their own from a free but this turned out to be their final score of the game. Hard work and intelligent passing helped Glenbower to grow in confidence and they killed off Cloyne with some impressive points.At the end of the game points from Brian(two), Eamon Byrne and a sweet left foot effort from 'Dip' gained a well deserved victory for Glenbower Rovers and a place in the League final. Well done to all involved. Final score was Glenbower Rovers 2-12 Cloyne 1-06.
