County  JAHC Semi Final Replay
Castlemartyr 2-14 Cloughduv 0-15
Castlemartyr finally got the better of Cloughduv in the county championship to set up a final meeting with Ballinhassig next Sunday. They say goals win games, and this was certainly the difference between this performance and the drawn encounter. Two first half green flags from Castlemartyr provided the cushion as Castlemartyr only trailed Cloughduv once in the entire game, and that was after the forst score.
Our first goal came after Cian Haines was first to react after a Jamie Stack shot rebounded off the post, pulling on the sloitar first time to give the Cloughduv keeper no chance from close range. Our second goal came from Jamie Stack who finished to the net superbly after being played through by Brian Lawton. Castlemartyr were dealt a blow with Brian Smiddy having to retire injured after 20 minutes.
Cloughduv were very unlucky not to have a first half goal of their own following a goal mouth scramble which saw a deflection just go the wrong side of the post. Castlemartyr turned at the interval with a three point lead on a score of 2-5 to 0-08.
Cloughduv enjoyed a period of dominance in the second half, and with 10 minutes left they had all the momentum. A well worked Barra O’Tuama point settled Castlemartyr again and for the closing minutes we outscored Cloughduv by 4 points to 1. The Lawton brother took the game by the scruff of the neck, with Barry scoring 3 points and Brian getting his third of the game to ensure our place in the final after a 50 year wait.
At the back, we gave little away, with Briain O’Tuama again doing a great man marking job on Cloughduv danger man Darragh Ring. Up front, the Lawton brothers again were to the fore but were ably assisted by Jamie Stack, especially in the second half.

County Junior Hurling Final
All road lead to Páirc Uí Chaoimh next Sunday as Castlemartyr look set to add the county championship to their East Cork title. Ballinhassig await and they will no doubt provide formidable opposition, having beat Kilbrin in their semi final. But hopefully, our 4 games in the county series so far will stand to us, and if we play to our ability there is no doubt we are good enough to get over the line. Best of luck to all players and management and hopefully we will have something to celebrate come Sunday evening. The game precedes the Intermediate final between Charleville and Fermoy, with a throw in time of 1.15pm.
