Minor Hurlers Reach League Final
Killeagh-Ita’s minor hurling team overcame Valley Rovers in a league semi-final on Saturday last, October 11th at Delany’s GAA Grounds. While it was a lovely afternoon for hurling supporters were few and far between for this encounter. Valley Rovers struck first blood with a goal virtually from the throw-in. No panic in the Killeagh-Ita’s squad as they quietly went about their business and with some great points from play and placed balls they were in control thereafter. They cemented their authority over this game despite having to cope with some dubious and wayward tackling by their opponents and were ahead by three points at half-time on a scoreline of 0-11 to 1-05. When the referee commenced the second half, Killeagh-Ita’s punished the opposition from start to finish of the thirty minutes with some great scores. Chief among those great scores was a fabulous goal from Gary Leahy courtesy of some good teamwork from Eoin and Andy. They out-scored Valley Rovers by six points in the second half and they ran out easy winners in the end on a score of Killeagh-Ita’s 1-18 to 0-09 to Valley Rovers.
