History was made in paric Liosgcúl as our second string recorded their first championship win at 'B' level. Playing a good brand of football from start to finish they recovered from an awful start which saw glenbower rovers bag 1-1 after five minutes. We recovered and with some good patience in the backs with Dave Barry, Brian O’Leary, Andrew O’Donovan and Donal O’Leary responding well. This, coupled with excellent teamwork from our forwards like Cathal Cashman, Jamie Woods and Kieran O’Shea we responded strongly by scoring 2-1. Cathal Cashman got our first after a long ball from Jamie woods ended in the 13 yard line and Cathal was there to punish. The second was a great team move, which started from the backs and ended with Jamie assisting Moss for a neat finish. It was from here, we saw some super points from Moss, Jamie, and Seamus. This ensured we had a healthy lead. In truth, we probably should have got more scores but a mixture of poor decision making from our forwards and good defending ensured we weren't that far ahead. Noel O'Riordan capped a good first half with a well taken goal to leave us 3-4 to 1-3 at the short whistle.

At the resumption Glenbower started strongly like they did in the first half and piled on the pressure after ten minutes it was 3-4 to 1-5. Lucky to be holding out against Glenbower, who made some excellent scoring chances but didn’t take them, our forwards plundered again. Jamie and Moss combined well to set-up substitute Wayne for a few scores. This settled the team and the result was beyond doubt, when Jamie got goal number four after a goal mouth scramble to lash it home from close range, to settle the issue. It was a well-deserved win, had it not been for a lack of accuracy in front of goal for Glenbower, the result could have been very different. Our lads move into round three, where they will play either Midleton or Aghada. It is the end of the road for Glenbower, however they have the consolation of having their first team complete the four in a row in winning the East Cork JAFC at the weekend. Our congratulations goes to them, for our lads it’s onwards and upwards.
