County Finals

All In C.L.G. Liosgcul would like congratulate our U14 hurlers on winning their county final last Sunday morning on the score line of 3-8 to 0-8. Well done Lads. Commiserations to our minor hurlers on losing their county final against shamrocks!!

JBFC First Round
Lisgoold 0-13 (13)
Carrignavar 2-14 (20)
At Sallybrooke
Tue 23rd Sept 2014

Lisgoold came up against a very strong and experienced Carrignavar side last Tuesday. To their credit even though they were limited to 17 players, due to college, work and the minors involvement in a county final later on in the week, they played very well. Brian O’Leary, John O’Shea, Dave Barry, Mick Dillon and Bryan O’Sullivan came to the fore in this encounter and at the short whistle 0-9 to 0-7 in arrears an upset was a possibility.

However at the resumption, Carrig piled on the scores and got a vital goal with fifteen minutes to go. However, we fought back gamely from seven points down to three and with a minute left we were looking for an elusive equaliser. This never came and in injury time Carrig tagged on 1-1 to seal the deal. It was a brave effort and our lads, who now face Glenbower rovers in round two.

JFL Division Three
Lisgoold 1-4 (7)
Cloyne 2-13 (19)
At Cloyne
Sun 28th Sept 2014

Last Sunday morning, we saw after an entertaining hours play, our lads coming up short to a good Cloyne side. In truth, given the fact that the U14 and Minors had county finals on later on in the afternoon, the timing couldn’t have been worse. However  with the bare fifteen they got on with it and played our final league game with pride and spirit in the first half with the score 1-8 to 1-3 in favour of the hosts. The second half however was a formality as Cloyne’s strength in depth showed, and eased themselves to victory.
