County Finals

All In C.L.G. Liosgcul would like to wish our U14 and Minor hurlers the very best in the respective county hurling finals this week in Ballincolllig on Sunday at 1pm and 2.30pm we ask all patrons to come and support!!

JFL Division Three
Lisgoold 2-9 (15)
Aghada 0-11 (11)
At Rostellan
Thurs 18th Sept 2014

Last Thursday night, we saw after an entertaining hours play, our lads turning the tables with a collective team performance with a good away win. In fairness given to college commitments and the minors playing in a county semi-final (which they won - well done lads!) management were limited to a skeleton fifteen. However much like Kerry last Sunday, our management team decided to ‘adapt and survive’ and played a defensive set-up. Aghada started very brightly and in truth should have been out of sight after fifteen minutes but they spurned several scoring chances and we even had the luxury of penalty save by Owen after 18 minutes it was from here Lisgoold sprang to action. With John, Moss, Seamus and Dave tight in defence, Bryan, Peter, Denis and Brian O'Leary were allowed to flourish with the latter scoring a penalty on 27 minutes. At the short-whistle we had defined logic and managed to be 1-4 to 0-6 in front.

The second half was lively with Aghada tiring a small bit and Lisgoold attacking a bit more. Points were traded before the key moment in the 47th minute when the ever-green Michael Beirne acting as the fox (Silver) in the box to score our second goal after a long range free from Bryan O’Sullivan was spilled by the Aghada full-back. Try as they might Aghada couldn't get back into it and our lads held out for the league points. Hopefully, we will have a stronger panel come championship and all in the club wish the lads the best in their championship duel.
