Wear the Green
We have experienced fantastic success with the Killeagh/Itas U21 team in East Cork Final, our U16 & U13 teams in County competitions in the last couple of weeks. We continue to ask the community to put up the Green and White in support of our under 14 and under 12 hurlers who play their respective League Finals this week and also for our minor hurlers in the Minor County Final on Monday 16th September. The minor final takes place in Pairc Ui Rinn. Be seen and wear the Green.
Well Done:
Killeagh-Ita’s emerged victorious in the East Cork U21 final on Saturday last, September 6th. Congratulations and well done to Paudie and all his management team, to captain Dinny who lifted the trophy and to all the players in the squad. The celebrations started almost immediately in Cobh, continued with a large motorcade through the village (see youtube vid) and then down to our own grounds where light refreshments were provided for everybody. Big thanks and well done is due to the Killeagh Cailíní who served up food and drinks to all and sundry and who had the unenviable task of cleaning up afterwards. As always they took it in their stride with no fuss so well done to all involved on the night.

On Tuesday last Killeagh GAA was one of six East Cork GAA Clubs presented with €1000 worth of playing equipment by Hurley’s Super-Valu in Midleton. The full pack consists of 20 large gear bags, 2 dozen water bottles, 2 sets of training bibs, 10 footballs, 2 football bags and a dozen sliotars. Many thanks to Super-Valu Midleton and its manager Tommy Grimes for this wonderful gesture, the equipment will come to good use in 2014 and beyond in Killeagh GAA.

Under 16 footballers fall at first hurdle
Rebel Óg Eastern A Football Championship Killeagh-Ita’s 0-6, St. Colman’s 3-13
Our Under 16 footballers failed to overcome St. Colman’s in their Eastern A Football Championship first round match played at home last Friday evening. We got off to a good start and led by 0-3 to 0-0 after 12 minutes with points from cousins Aaron and Sean Walsh, but then a goal from a penalty gave St. Colman’s a lifeline and an impetus and they took over from here to the finish. We contested well but gave away possession too easily and paid the price. It was 2-6 to 0-4 at half time and although Jamie Landers got the opening score of the second half to reduce the margin, St. Colman’s dominated the rest of the game, scoring 1-7 without reply. Our boys tried hard to score a goal to get back in the game, but the St. Colman’s full back line and goalkeeper were excellent in limiting our chances. So good luck to our opponents who were deserving winners as they prepare to play Valley Rovers in the next round. Thanks to our selection committee of Adrian Budds, John Irwin, Liam Kelly and Denis O’Rourke for their efforts with this team throughout the year.
Team: Adrian Galvin, Luke Fogarty, Jack O’Rourke, Shane Kearney, Fergal Smiddy, Kevin Murphy, Christy Coughlan, Keane Budds, Cathal Deane, Eoin Fitzgibbon, David Ogbebor, Sean Walsh, Fionn McDonnell, Jamie Landers, Aaron Walsh. Subs: Richie Long, Dylan Hogan, Jamie Clifford, Barry Motherway, Liam McCarthy.

U7 & U8
Killeagh GAA hosted the monster hurling blitz last Saturday.  We fielded three teams and competed very well in all games. Each team played three games.  It is great to see that the boys have progressed well since the start of the year with several outstanding performances.
Also, Killmurry travelled to Killeagh last Sunday morning with two teams to play Killeagh-Itas at U7 and U8 team.  These talented footballers provided a hugely entertaining game for mentors and supporters alike and also displayed a high level of skill.  All the training is paying off well done lads
