East Cork JAHC Semi Final
Castlemartyr 0-21 Sarsfields 0-18
Castlemartyr reached the East Cork final for 2014 after a hard fought win against Sarsfields on Saturday night last. In a game that could have gone either way, Castlemartyr were very grateful to the Lawton brothers as they contributed 15 points between them. The side were tied 12 points a piece at half time. Castlemartyr had a four point lead at one point but this was reeled in by Sars who fielded a much stronger team then when the teams me in the first round.   Brian Lawton was causing the Sars defense problem from center forward scoring a number of long range points with his brother Barry alongside him winning some great aerial ball. Eddie Clifford also continued his good form with two points from play.
Castlemartyr started the second half brightly with five unanswered points before Sars responded with two of their own to reduce the gap to three points. A Barry Lawton free made it four again but Sars weren’t giving up and two points meant there was only two points in it with 10 minutes remaining. Adrian Bowens raised a white flag from distance before two Sars points from play left only the minimum between the sides entering the last five minutes. Two points from Brian and Barry Lawton stretched the gap to three as Sars went in search of a goal. But our back stood firm under intense pressure to see us safely in next weeks decider.
Up front the Lawton brothers were outstanding while at the back Eanna McGovern pulled off one point blank and Rob O’Donovan had an excellent at full back. Outside him Adrian Bowens hurled magnificently for the hour.

East Cork JAHC Final
All roads lead to Caherlag next Sunday evening as Castlemartyr look to retain their East Cork crown. Cobh provide the opposition with throw in at 6pm. A big support will be needed if we are to claim the title so we urge everyone to make the game to cheer on the lads.

East Cork JCHC Semi Final
Castlemartyr 0-14 Russell Rvs 2-14
Castlemartyr were aiming to make it to a second East Cork final over the weekend but unfortunately it wasn’t to be after being defeated by Russell Rovers in the Junior C semi final. Missing a number of players from our first round victory we ran out of steam in the second half as the Shanagarry men used the wind to their advantage to overcome a 4 point half time deficit. Overall it was a good year for this panel with a number of young players playing junior hurling for the first time and hopefully we can come back stringer next year.
