Main sponsor O’Flynn’s MACE Service Station
Our Annual Club Golf Classic goes ahead on this Weds. and Thurs. in East Cork Golf Club a lot of hard work has been done by Chairman of the Golf Classic Comm. Ger. Donnelly and his Secretary Dan O Connor in acquiring as many Teams and TeeBox sponsors as possible for the Classic so here’s hoping for favourable weather over the 2 days and the best of luck to all involved.

The best of luck to all our Players who are sitting their Junior and Leaving Cert. Exams over the next couple of weeks.

Intermediate Hurling C/ship.2014
Fr.O Neills 1:12 v Aghada 2:21
Our 1st rnd. clash v Aghada in this years Int. Hurling C/ship. proved to be a tough baptism of fire for our very young and inexperienced side in the excellently prepared Cloyne venue on Sat.night last. Starting 4 lads who played under 16 last year with 10 under 21’s in total in our starting 15 the task at hand was always going to be difficult never the less we faced into it having prepared very well over the last few months. We started brightly with pts. from the impressive duo of Deccie Dalton and Billy Dunne then Aghada hit us with a sucker punch of a well worked goal although our defending wasn’t great in the lead up to it they adde a pt. to this before Joe. Millerick got our pt. from play, Agahda started to take control of proceedings from here on tacking on 4 pts. without reply, our reply came courtesy of 2 pointed frees from Deccie to leave 3 pts. between the sides, Aghada fired over another pt. and then when we failed to deal with a ball that should have been cleared they punished us again when their corner forward got got hold of it and gave our keeper no chance with the shot, again we replied through pts. from Paudie McMahon and Deccie from here to the short whistle Aghada punished our poor defending firing over 4pts. without reply to leave the half time score at 2:11 to 0:07. We introduced Podge Butler as a half time sub. as we turned to play with the help of the breeze in the 2nd half but it was Aghada who got the start we needed quickly adding 2 pts. of their own we replied with a Deccie pt. from a free they replied with one of their own we then added 3 pts. of our own through Deccie 2 and Billy 1 Aghada came again with a pt. before Deccie added another from a free, our cause was made all the more difficult with the dismissal of Paudie Higgins at this time to a straight red card, our opponents really started to turn the screw from here on firing over 6 pts. without reply with the dismissal of our own Mark O Keeffe and Aghada’s T.Hartnett to 2 straight red cards sandwiched in between these 6 scores, we finished the game with Deccie taking advantage of a breaking ball in the Aghada square to finish it to the net to leave Aghada wining out on the above scoreline. So a harsh lesson learnt for our young Team which has to be recovered from quickly as we now await the losers of the Fermoy v Kildorrey game in rnd. 2. Team: P.Colbert, J.Barry,(Cpt.), P.Higgins,. M.Motherway, N.Griffin, M.O Keeffe, J.O Driscoll, L.O Driscoll, C.Broderick, P.McMahon 0-1, J.Millerick 0-1, D.Dalton 1-08,0-7 frs, B.Dunne0-2, R. Cullinane, L.Swayne. Subs: P.Butler for J.O Driscoll h/t, K.Hegarty for L.O Driscoll 40mins.
