At a specially convened meeting last week in Club Arus, the club, in deciding to amalgamate with the Youghal Ladies Football Club, heralded a new era by forming The Youghal GAA Club, under which both codes will be under the one banner but the Ladies Football will still operate as a sub committee and have representation on the Youghal Gaa Executive. We congratulate all the people who worked tirelessly to make this momentous occasion come to fruition, none more so than Christy Cooney who, over the last few years has put a huge input into the task in hand.
Another super effort from the lads that just fell short of gaining another brace of points. Having scored a late goal to lead by two points entering the final five minutes it looked good for the home side but Erins Own replied with another green flag to deny Youghal the points. However "Rome was'nt built in a day" and the progress at Senior level is certainly evident.
SHL Round 4.
Youghal 1-18 St Finbarrs 2-12.
Well if the progress at this levl was evident in the last game, it certainly went up another notch in this game played in Togher. A wonderful display and more importantly another 2 points for the lads and the news last week that Bill Cooper had been recalled to the Cork Senior panel certainly had the desired effect on Bill, as he contributed a whopping 1-7 to the scoreboard.
IFL Youghal 0-7 Cloyne 2-9.
An understrength Youghal side were beaten by Cloyne in the League last Friday night in Cloyne, and must now try and regroup as their championship outing against Adrigole is only a few weeks away. A positive on the night was the impressive display by one of the new kids on the block Danny Walsh.

Thanks to everyone who turned up on Sunday afternoon last in Club Arus for the family quiz. It was all great fun and also in aid of a very worthy cause and we wish Izzy the very best in her treatment. The quiz itself turned out to be a " Testimonial" for the Gurtroe lads, as the first 3 places were won by John Lynch's family in 1'st place just a point ahead of H Nicholson's team followed by Miley Griffins team in third place. Well done lads and thanks again for everyone who helped on the day.
Anyone who ordered a souvenir DVD can now collect it by ringing Allen Hennessy  on 086-8149750 to arrange collection. Anyone else who might be interested in getting one can also ring Alan as there may be a few extra ordered at a cost of €25.
About 30 years has elapsed since the last parish leagues were played in Youghal and it was wonderful to see them being relaunched last Friday night in Club Arus by the chairman and secretary of Eochaill Og Alan Geary and Andrew Murphy. In attendance also were special guests Frank Keane who relived the leagues of times gone past, Sean Crowley, Cork Games Development Administrator with Cork Rebel Og, Ger Motherway Chairman Youghal Gaa Club, and Cork Senior pannelist's Patrick Horgan and Bill Cooper.  There was also a very impressive display of old photographs hanging on the walls of the hall on the night, and we thank everyone for their contrbution especially Assumpta Parker. There are three trophies up for grabs for the tournament and these were kindly donated by the families of the late George Bulman, Tom (Midge) Pomphrett and Robbie Sullivan and we are eternally grateful for their kindness. The draw for the teams  that will compete in the leagues,  which will commence on Monday 28th of April are as follows with their respective managers;
NA FIANNA (Alan Fox/Pat Mackey) v SETANTA (Brian Murphy)
THE DAVITT'S (Vincent Murray) v THE GAEL'S (Alan Geary)
May we wish all teams the very best of luck.
