Intermediate Football;
On Wednesday last 2nd April we travelled to play Mitchelstown in round 4 of the Division 4 league.While defeat was our lot this was an encouraging display with lots of good football played and scores taken.The concession of 3 preventable goals ultimately proved our downfall.
Mitchelstown were first on the scoreboard with a number of points from play which were quickly answered by points from Ciaran Mullins and an excellent effort from distance by Paul O’Sullivan.Mitchelstown then scored 2 goals in quick succession the second one as a result of a very dubious refereeing decision,this goal however saw us up our performance and we finished out the half the stronger with points Colm and Paul O,Sullivan,Conor O’Lomasney and an Eoin O’Sullivan free top leave us behind 2.05 to 6pts at the short whistle.
The first 10 minutes of the second half were keenly contested with 2 frees from our opponents the only scores in this period.Improved play all over the field saw us enjoy plenty of possession which we weren’t turning into scores.A goal from Conor and a Colm point brought us right back into the game but the concession of a third goal against the run of play killed off our challenge.We finished the game with points from Tommy O’Shea and Eoin O ‘Sullivan to leave the full time score 3.12 to 1.09.

Junior Football;
Our division 3 footballers collected their first league points of the season by virtue of a 2 point away win over Carrignavar.The game was played in the grounds of the Sacred Heart College and in very difficult conditions with a soft pitch and driving rain the order of the day.
Our goal scorers on the day were Stewart Crichton,Ciaran Mullins and Conor Motherway,the final score reading 3.10 to 3.08 in our favour.

Intermediate Hurling;
We made the long journey to Newcestown for round 4 of the Division 1 hurling league on Sunday morning last.Unfortunately it wasn’t to prove a fruitful journey as we came away on the wrong side of a 1.13 to 9 points scoreline.
We played against a very strong wind in the first half and succeeded in keeping our hosts at bay for most of the half but the concession of a number of frees at the latter end of the half saw the half time score read 11pts to 2.A Paul O’Sullivan point from play and a Dillon Cahill effort from a free were our first half scorers.
The second half saw us chip away at the lead with the introduction of Keith Dennehy in particular adding impetus to our attack.4 Dillon Cahill free’s a Conor Cusack point and a fine long range Chris Smith effort had the game down to a four point margin entering the last 10 minutes.Unfortunately the last few minutes degenerated into a battle of no scores due mainly to a referee who quite truthfully wasn’t up to the required standard either physically or functionally.A Newcestown breakaway goal on the stroke of full time brought the curtain down on the scoring and the game.Full time score Newcestown 1.13 Cloyne 9 points.
