Memorable Dinner Dance.
Last Saturday night's victory dinner dance in Club Arus provided one of the best social events the Youghal club has held in many a long year. The meal provided was of the highest quality, the entertainment by 'The Boogie Band' and DJ 'Twee' was in keeping with the impressive reputation that both of these have built up in the music arena locally, and the 'Full House' signs were up with quite a while since tickets went on sale. Special guests on the night were Kieran McGann representing the Cork County Board, Robert Frost  Munster Council, Sammy Revins Mayor of Youghal and Ken Brooks and Steven O'Sullivan, representing Brooks Super Value our sponsors, all of whom were accompanied by their wives.
The highlight of the dinner every year is the awards presented to the individual winners of various categories and this years winners were; Hurler of the year for the second year in a row, Ritchie Cunningham; Footballer of the year Aron Kenny and club person of the year went to Catriona Hill.
A new award that was initiated this year is a Special Merit Award, and this was presented, to John Parker, who got a tremendous reception from the packed hall for his contribution to Youghal Gaa down through the decades, and who is still involved in practically every aspect of all club activities. Well done John you so deserved it.
The all conquering Intermediate hurlers were also presented with their County and Munster medals by Kieran Mc Gann and Robert Frost respectivly. Our Junior hurlers also recieved their East Cork League medals.
Fitzgibbon Cup.
Bill Cooper played with CIT in this years competition, and despite beating UCC in the semi final, had to give best to WIT in the final last Saturday in Belfast, despite Bill's great effort's, scoring two massive points.
JFL DIV2
Glanmire 0-10 Youghal 1-08.
Youghal travelled to Glanmire for this second game of the league, and after trailing 0-7 to 0-1 at half time, produced a remarkable second half performance to record a magnificient 1 point victory, and join Ballinacurra and Carrigtwohill as table toppers. Outstanding displays from, Dale O'Donoghue, Rory Walsh, Pa O'Mahoney, Aron Kenny and David O'Mahoney who scored 1-1, gave manager John Parker great cause for optimism for the rest of the season.
