Brawl off The Ball.
When the Four Seasons wrote their classic hit “Oh What a Night” they probably had a white collar boxing match in mind because last Friday night’s event in the Radisson was certainly that. A massive crowd of over 700 people packed into the venue and created an amazing atmosphere that continued from the first bout to the very last.
The boxers from both Cloyne and Aghada were a credit to themselves and their clubs and have to be commended for their dedication to training over the last 8 weeks and for the efforts they put into dressing up on the night.
The red and black and green and white were in full display on the night and added great colour to the event.
Celebrities that turned up on the night included Hannibal Lector,Capt Jack Sparrow, Buzz Lightyear, various men of the cloth but the highlight of the night was Miley Cyrus arriving on her wrecking ball complete with the sledge hammer.
The standard of boxing was excellent considering most had only laced up their gloves in the last 6 weeks or so.
A night like this doesn’t happen by accident and great credit is due to the organising committees from both clubs for organising such an incredible night.
Our thanks also to the team led by Cathal O’Grady and especially the trainers Jerry Sheehan and Sean Barrett who spent the last 8 weeks putting the boxers through their paces.
Both clubs are indebted to all the boxers without whom there wouldn’t have been any show, for their dedication to training and for putting in the effort to dress up on the night which added greatly to the whole show.
Our thanks to Colm O’Brien of Wiser Recycling main sponsor and to the individual sponsors who got behind each boxer.
Thanks to everyone who purchased a ticket which made the night a financial success as well as a fantastic show.

The new development at River Street is nearing completion and will be handed over in the next 2 weeks.Part of the new build includes a state of the art gym which we are opening up to the whole community to join.
