East Cork JCFC Final

Lisgoold 2-8 (14)
Glenville 5-8 (23)
At Castlelyons
24th October 2013

It was a case of revenge last Sunday afternoon for Glenville as the swept Lisgoold aside with something to spare in the east cork final. It was tough defeat for our lads to take but in fairness to Glenville they were up for it and they deserve their win. It was a roller coaster of a match as the hits and points came in which the hardly souls who turned up were treated to a good game of football. Patrick Connery, Brian O’Leary, Kevin Shea, Dave Barry, Kieran Barry Bill Whelan and an athletic Brian Clifford were playing some great stuff for the first half. Glenville opened proceedings in the 6th minute with a free, before Dave Barry equalized. It was tit for tat after that until the 18th minute when Glenville got their first major, this was cancelled out shortly by Alan Conroy, the wily Kevin Shea added his few points in and at the short whistle it was 1-4 apiece.

We got a fantastic start to the second half as Dave Barry got our second goal and another point but this shook Glenville into life, who took over proceedings and dominated the rest of the game. They cancelled out Dave’s goal with one of their own and a lapse of concentration in defence minutes allowed Glenville in again for another goal which gave them a lead they would never relinquish. We tried in vain to get back in the match but just couldn’t catch the black and amber. It was a disappointing way to end to 2013 but it is a credit to this club to be able to cater for over 40 players throughout the year so it shows that we are going places. So it well done to Glenville and for our lads we have the year wrapped up and a well earned rest before we click on again for 2014.
