20/3/83 J F L div 2 Aghada 0-9 Cloyne 0-4
Having held Cloyne to level pegging against the strong wind in the first half, helped Aghada to go on and collect their first brace of league points at Rostellan. Both teams were sending out their second strings with Aghada having the experienced Aidan Power, Joe Hartnett and Denis Healy in their side were stronger overall, however, Cloyne gave as good as they got for three quarters of the game and it was only when they tired did the home side score some delightful points. Cloyne with the advantage of the breeze in the opening half failed to put it to use o the scoreboard due to poor finishing after some fine outfield play by Mick Morrissey, who impressed throughout, as did Dermot O’ Shea, Pat Curtin, Eamonn Morgan, and John Scanlon. Their three points in the half were matched by Aghada. The strength of Power, Hartnett, O’Keeffe, and Wall was the big difference between the sides.
Team; Peter Cashman, Martin O’Donoghue, John O’Sullivan , Fergus Wall, Martin Coleman, Aidan Power, Ger Crowley, Joe Hartnett, Dave O’Keeffe, Denis Healy, Ml Garde, Kevin Madigan, Liam Wall, Finbarr Wall, Ml Counihan, subs  John O’Connell for Garde, Pasty Rice for Madigan.
