Junior B Football.
The first round of the Junior B football championship took place at home on Saturday night last 5th October against our neighbours Russell Rvs.
On a perfect evening for a game we played against the slight wind in the first half and at half time found ourselves only 2 points in arrears 4 pts to 2.We enjoyed plenty of possession in the half and only for some wayward shooting might have found ourselves closer on the scoreboard.
The second half began with Russell Rvs on the ascendency and they scored the first 2 points of the half to put them four to the good.Strong play from Stewart Crichton and Luke Cullinane in particular saw us get a foothold in the game and 2 frees from Stewart closed the gap to 2 once again.Rvs again upped the ante and scored two more points to lead by 4 once again 8 pts to 4.
Entering the last 10 minutes of the contest we found ourselves down to 14 men but this didn’t stop us putting in a storming finish keeping the Rvs scoreless in the process.Two excellent points from Stewart one from a free and another from play closed the gap and when Luke scored an excellent point from play the lead was down to the minimum.
Try as we might though we couldn’t get the equalising score and the Rvs held out to win 8points to 7.Next up for the team is a back door game against Carrigtohill more than likely to take place next week-end.
Best for Cloyne in an excellent team performance were Luke Cullinane,Stewart Crichton and Stevie Beausang.

Congratulations to the Cork Senior Ladies football team who won their 8th Senior title in 9 years, a staggering record that will probably never be equalled not to mind broken.Well done to the numerous East Cork representatives on the panel.

St Colman’s;
The first silverware of the new St Colmans amalgamation was won in splendid style by our U 12 hurlers against Coursey Rvs last weekend.A win that at times didn’t seem likely as they trailed by 10 points was fashioned by excellent skill and determination as they eventually won out by 1 point 4.05 to 3.07.Thanks to their mentors and parents who supported them throughout the year.
