Fe 21 B East Cork Hurling C/ship. semi-final
Fr.O Neills 2:16 v Cloyne 1:04
We played Cloyne in the semi-final of this years Fe 21 B Hurling C/ship.on Sunday week last the 18th in the excellently prepared Shanagarry venue. Cloyne opened the scoring with a pt.but we replied soon after with 2 goals the first one flicked to the net by our towering No.14 Rob.Cullinane after a long delivery from a Liam O Driscoll free and the second one which was superbly finished by the ever alert Paudie McMahon, these scores set the tone for us for the rest of the game and we duly rattled off 5 more pts.courtesy of Liam 3 frees with a pt.a piece coming from Rob.and Paudie, Cloyne replied with 2 pts.of their own from a 65 and a free as we reached half time which saw us leading by 2:05 to 0:03. We started the second half with the same urgency and intensity as the first with Paudie opening the scoring with a fine pt.which Cloyne replied to with a pt. Liam fired over another free and then Joe.Millerick got in on the act scoring a fine pt.of his own,Cloyne were starting to ask questions of our teak tough back 6 and were rewarded when a long range effort found the back of our net reducing our lead to 7pts. this goal seemed to focus our minds and from here to the finish we took complete control of proceedings with our forwards working very hard we fired over 8 unanswered pts.with some great scores coming from play courtesy of Liam,David O Driscoll,Paudie (2) and a well deserved pt.from the impressive Aaron McEvoy,Liam got 3 from frees during this period also to see us close out the game on the above scoreline, we now play Watergrasshill in the Final who have been very impressive in all their games up to now with both Teams possessing potential match winners the Final on Tues.10th Ballynoe time TBC.should be a cracker.Team:K.O Sullivan,D.Harrington,J.Barry Cpt.D.McCarthy,T.Millerick,M.O Keeffe,T.Motherway,L.O Driscoll 0:08,0:07 fr.J.Millerick 0:01,A.McEvoy 0:01,K.Hegarty,D.Sexton,P.McMahon 1:04,R.Cullinane1:01,D.O Driscoll 0:01.Subs: D.O Reilly,S.Lee,K.Lee,D.Finn,P.Steele.
Co.Intermediate Hurling C/ship.2013
Fr.O Neills 0:11 v Fermoy 2:13
We got back into C/ship.action this year on Sat.night the 24th  in Ballynoe having last played in the first rnd.on Sun.the 2nd of June which is a day short of 12 weeks between both games, surely a more satisfactory system must be found to facilitate the playing of all C/ships.during the best months of the Summer. We were forced to line out short 4 players who played in our first over St.Catherines all for different genuine reasons so it was a very young Team that took to the Field against Fermoy. Except for the first few minutes we never led this game having to play catch for all of it. Liam O Driscoll opened our scoring with a 65 but Fermoys response was swift notching up 1:03 in reply we got our 2nd score courtesy of a long range free from Mark O Keeffe,Fermoy replied again with a pt.of their own and at this stage we were struggling to keep tabs on their Half Back line,Centre Field and their very lively Half Forward line. Paudie McMahon reduced the deficit once more firing over a beauty from play,Liam followed this with another pt.from a free but again Fermoys respone was swift putting 2 more pts.on the board we cut the gap again with 2 more pts.from Liam 1 from play and a free, Fermoy extended  their lead once more with another pt.before Liam put over another 65 to leave us behind at half time on a score line of 0:07 to 2:06. We got the scoring under way for the 2nd half with a pt.from a free from Paudie McMahon but yet again Fermoy hit back with 3 more stretch their lead even further we responded with 2 pts.from frees from Liam with Fermoy firing over a pt.of their own, Rob.Cullinane who was now operating at Centre Forward got on the score sheet with a pt.from here on Fermoy tagged on 3 more run out comfortable winners on the above scoreline. Try as they did our lads just couldn’t get to grips with a physically stronger and more experienced Fermoy Team as I stated earlier we fielded a very young Team which argues well for the Club going forward,so heads up everyone with an U21 East Cork Hurling Final a Prem.2 Minor Hurling Co.semi-final and the ¼ Final of the Jnr.B Hurling C/ come there is plenty of Silverware to be played for yet we are also challenging strongly in the Prem.2 Minor Hurling and Jnr.Hurling Lge’s. and let the hurt of last Saturdays defeat be the spur needed over the next few weeks.Team:P.Colbert, T.Millerick, P.Higgins,J.O Driscoll, K.Hegarty,B.Murphy Cpt. Premier Minor 2 Hurling C/ship.
Fr.O Neills 2:23 v Sliabh Rua 2:19 aet.
We played Sliabh Rua in the semi-final of this years C/ The Mardyke on Tues.the 27th in what was a tremendous advertisement for the game of Hurling we came out on the right side of the contest after 80mins.of play. Right from the start we dominated proceedings opening the scoring after 2 mins with a Mark O Keeffe pt.this was followed by 2 goals and a pt.from Billy Dunne and a Padraig McMahon pt.from a free.Sliabh Rua slowly started to get into their stride and by half time had 8pts.on the board with 7 of these coming from free’s,we had added another 6 pts.3 from Paudie,2 from Joe.Millerick and 1 from the industrious Aaron McEvoy to lead at half time 2:09 to 0:08. Sliabh Rua re-jigged the Team for the 2nd half and it had the desired effect they took the game to us from the off and slowly reduced our interval lead through the concession of some silly free’s from ourselves and a few dubious decisions going against us. We continued to keep the score board ticking over all the while knowing a Sliabh Rua goal was going to bring a hectic finish to a cracking game and sure enough it duly arrived, the pressure was certainly on our lads now to dig deep to rescue a game that we seemed to have control for long periods and that we did to send the game to extra time. With both Teams tiring  every chance was vital to take, we fired over 4 the first period of extra time to Sliabh Rua’s only score of a goal to lead by a pt.going into the last 10mins. We really showed our character and guts from here on to close out the game scoring another 4 pts in the process to Sliabh Rua’s single pt. This was as good a game that you could wish for and it sets us up for another tilt at our first round victors Newcestown in the Final.Team:C.O Driscoll, D.Harrington, A.Kenneally, M.Motherway, T.Millerick, J.Millerick 0:4, K.O Sullivan, P.McMahon 0:11, C.Broderick, D.Dalton, M.O Keeffe 0:1, E.Motherway, B.Dunne 2:03, A.McEvoy 0:4, D.O Driscoll.Subs: S.O Connor for K.O Sullivan 65 mins.D.Finn, K.Lee, C.Parker,C.Swayne, D.Harrington, C.Hegarty, A.Harrington, Ml.Millerick.
