Under 9’s – Manager John Bulman – Blitz at Cobh
On Saturday 24th the U9`s travelled to Cobh to play in a hurling blitz, our first game was against Midleton it was touch and go here but we came out on top wining by 2pts our next game was against Carrigtwohill as we played them the week before and beat them I think the lads taught they would win again but this was a much tougher game and we lost by a point in the end, maybe this was the kick we needed , our next game was against Blarney and did we hit form here we won this game handy our last game was against the host team Cobh. The lads carried the form from the Blarney game into this game and won it handy.  At the end the lads were presented with medals kindly sponsored by Paddy Histon.  The Cobh Club then fed all the players and parents, what a great day and the players really enjoyed it. A big thanks to the Cobh club.

U9’s Youghal v Gaultier (Ballygunner)
On Wednesday night Gaultier (ballygunner) travelled down to Youghal to play us in a football match.  It was a fine evening or was it that they were back in school but we had a 24 players on the night great to see it.  Gaultier brought 16 players so we played two games of 8 aside as we hadn`t played football for a few weeks (due to all the hurling games) we were slow out of the blocks we lost both games here the second games were a bit better and we played a lot better earning a draw in both games here so all was not lost. Thanks to Gaultier for making the long journey . A big thanks to all the parents that attended the games.

Eochaill Og U5&6 Hurling Blitz
The Eochaill Og U5/6 team held their first Hurling blitz against Erin’s Own at home in Youghal last weekend.  Such was the importance of this blitz that the Cork County GAA Board moved the Youghal V Cloyne Premier Intermediate game to the Sunday in order to let this prestigious blitz go ahead.
The Youghal boys and girls played three matches against Erin’s Own and some great skill was seen on the day.  Both teams played their hearts out with fine displays of hurling from all teams.  Scores were in abundance and defending was of a high standard.
Medals and goodie bags were presented afterwards by Erin’s Own Chairman Sean Twohig and Youghal GAA’s own vice Chair Alan Geary.  Both chairmen commented on how the future of hurling in both clubs and the county is safe on the hurley’s of these young boys and girls.
The Erin’s Own supporters were shown some wonderful Youghal hospitality when the parents of the U5/6 team laid on a fine spread of sandwiches and cakes afterwards in the club house.  A wonderful day was had by all.
The U5/6 team and management would like to thank all parents for their contribution in making the blitz a success not only for the kids but also the club and supporters.
The team are always looking for new players and kids recently started school are more than welcome to join every Saturday at 11.30am.
