JFL Division 4 Glenbower Rovers 5-14 Cloyne 1-11
On Monday evening the 26th August we headed to Cloyne for the fourth round game in Division 4 of the East Cork League. We were minus the minor members of the squad, as they had a league fixture of their own and we were delighted to have 18 players tog out.

On a lovely evening for football, we had a great start with Declan Long banging in a goal in the first attack of the match. Our midfield partnership of Ger Collins and Ian Cahill dominated along with a formidable half back line of Eamonn Byrne, Patrick O'Brien and new comer to the squad Mikey Fitzgerald.  We pushed forward and played some fine football and ended the half well in front on a score line of Glenbower Rovers 4-06 to Cloyne 1-04, with the other goals coming from the outstanding Kevin Lane (two) and Daniel Walsh (one).

We new if we could get a good start to the second half we would be along way to winning this match we did this and kept the score board ticking over with some excellent points from Lane and Cahill. Credit to Cloyne however they never threw in the towel and kept pressing for long parts of the second half, forcing our experienced keeper Paki Mahony into some excellent saves. We weathered the storm and our hard working captain Tadgh O'Connor sealed the game when he calmly placed the ball in the Cloyne net, when put through, by a great attacking move. When the final whistle was blown, as the light faded, we were delighted with our third win on a scoreline of 5-14 to 1-11. The effort put in by all the squad is greatly appreciated and it is important that we build on this win as it puts us in a good position to make the latter stages of the league and is good preparation for the upcoming championship.
