Harvest Festival

A Harvest Festival will be held in the GAA Grounds on Sunday 18th of August. In a day for all the family in which various activities will be held. We urge everyone to come out and support the club in this Family Fun Event in which the Main Event is ‘Poo in the Pitch’ which is a fundraiser for the club. Here the lucky winner can receive a €500 prize!! We divide our pitch into squares, and then sell these squares; each square will be given to a ticket holder via a random draw. We then release the cow, belonging to a local dairy farmer into the field, and wherever she “completes her job", that squares owner will win a prize of €500!! This is your only chance to get pooed on and get a prize for it! A ticket costs only €5, for more information contact either Mike (087) 9131673 or Noel (087) 2415949

JHL Division 4

Lisgoold 2-9 (15)
Dungourney 1-5 (8)
At Dungourney
9th August 2013

The second recorded a historic win last Friday night. As they managed to overcome a resilient Dungourney and earned their first ever win in the league. It was tough, gritty encounter, with both defenses on to top for the majority of the hour. Our defence was led superbly by Kieran Barry and Charles Smart and coupled with Damian Clifford, Kevin O’Keeffe and Andrew O’Donovan, we looked solid. In fact we hit the first two scores (two Superb frees from Charles) which seem to settle the team down. It was tit for tat for the majority of the hour as our forwards created chances but couldn’t convert them. Our backs were holding out, Moss and John were doing well in the corners and even though we survived a few scares thanks to some wayward shooting from the Duns and good Goalkeeping by Anthony McCarthy, at the short-whistle it was 0-4 to 0-2 to the blue and gold.

At the resumption it was another tight battle, but Lisgoold with the help of a few subs managed to break the deadlock. It was the evergreen Dave Barry who in the space of a few mins was the fox in the box to score two goals which gave us some breathing space. Lisgoold from here on, were in full control and managed to pull away with some lovely scores by Bill Whelan, Rob Smart and Cian Scannell. Thanks to our rock-hard defence and full concentration from 1 to 20 we held out to what was a very good win. The only blot in our copybook was a last minute goal which crept in, but to be fair to Dungourney it was a score they did deserved but it was too little too late. So, well done lads a much deserved win, one hopes it’s the first of many.
