CASTLEMARTYR GAA NOTES

Erins Own...........................1-15

Castlemartyr.......................0-11

Castlemartyr made the journey to Caherlag on Sunday last the 23rdof May and returned home empty handed, after been given a lesson in hurling by the home team in this JHL Div 1 fixture. With the championship game versus Cloyne only a month away, Barney Lawton has a mammoth task on his hands to get his troops firing by then.

Best for the Reds over the hour was Brian Lawton who registered a tally of 8 points.

Castlemartyr...........................1-7

Watergrasshill.........................0-12

In a lively game of hurling, Castlemartyrs second string gave a good account of themselves over the hour before losing out narrowly to Watergrasshill in this JHL Div 3 fixture in Castlemartyr on Monday the 24thof May last.

Rob O Donavan was majestic at centre back for the hour, while up front Steven Collins, Seanie Hennessy and Chris Moran tried hard.

Castlemartyr..............................0-8

Carrignavar................................1-16

Castlemartyr’s recent run of bad results continued, when they went down tamely to a slick Carrignavar outfit in this JHL Div 1 clash, played in Castlemartyr on Friday 29thof May.

Carrignavar led only by 6 points to 4 at half time, but they really burst into the game on the resumption, bagging 2-4 without reply in the first 10 minutes of the second half. The game petered out from this point on and Castlemartyr offered only a token resistance.

Best for the Reds on the night was an overworked Ollie Smiddy who tried gamely to repel the tide.
