Poo in the Pitch

A fundraiser for the club will be held on the 16th of August in Lisgoold GAA Grounds in where the lucky winner can receive a 500 prize!! We divide our pitch into squares, and then sell these squares; each square will be given to a ticket holder via a random draw. We then release the cow, belonging to a local dairy farmer into the field, and wherever she “completes her job", that squares owner will win a prize of €500!! This is your only chance to get pooed on and get a prize for it! A Ticket costs only €5, for more information contact either Mike (087) 9131673 or Noel (087) 2415949

Lisgoold GAA Golf Society

It has been supported within the club that a Golf Society should be set-up. So it was decided at a recent monthly meeting that one shall be set-up on trial basis for an outing in September and possibly October with a view to possibly officially establishing it in December. We will try and have our first outing on the weekend of the 14th/15th of September. So, If you are interesting in joining this society, contact Moss on 087- 2123628, so we can have an idea of what numbers are interested.

Junior Hurling League Division 4

Lisgoold 4-6 (18)
Aghada 3-9 (18)
At Rostellan
26th July 2013

Last Friday night saw our second string collect their first point in the hurling league with a hard-fought draw against Aghada. In lovely conditions and a simply splendid pitch (arguably one of the finest in the county) we were treated to a fair, honest and lively encounter.  Aghada had an electric start when they goaled after a long range free in the first minute. We responded well with a green flag of our own as Cian Scannell latched on for his first of the night. Charles, Jamie, a very impressive Kevin O’Keeffe & Kieran Barry were playing very well and after scores from Kieran O’Shea, Peter and Bill ensured we were back on top. However typical of Aghada with a never say die attitude, fought back and got a well finished second goal. Our full back line of Moss, Kieran and John recovered from these slips and held their own and battled away to the short whistle in which the score was 2-3 to 1-4 in favour of Aghada.

At the resumption Aghada got into the run of things by racking up a few fine scores. They got a third goal which seemed to have killed the contest. However thanks to great heart shown by our lads and with scores from Kieran O’Shea and two quick goals from Cian we were back in business at 3-7 to 3-6. With this inspired, fight back Lisgoold sprang into life again and with impressive subs Mark Kiniry and Kevin O’Shea throwing their weight in Lisgoold were back in the game. Aghada notched another point and then hard-working Noel O’Riordan managed to finish off a superb move which involved Cian, Kieran and Bill to put us back in front by one. Ray Savage who was a constant thorn in our side, managed to equalize for Aghada with his fifth score a excellent long-range point ensured we were level again. Both sides had their chances but they couldn’t take them. Referee Peter Heagrty blew the final whistle and we had a share of the points. A win is not too far from these lads and if they keep at it, their day will come.
