Junior Hurling League Division 1

Lisgoold 0-20 (20)
Dungourney 1-17 (20)
At Lisgoold
25th June 2013

A pulsating game in Paric Liosgcúl last Tuesday as our neighbours came to our background to battle out in a thoroughly fascinating match. From start to finish this was a very absorbing contest, played in the right spirit and to be honest a fair result at the end of it. Dungounrey had the like of Shane Hegarty, Niall Motherway, James Leahy & Martin Hennessy on song as they soared to early lead. However Lisgoold unlike their first round encounter responded well With John Cronin, John Cashman, Brendan Flynn & Patrick O’Mahony replying strongly. It was a free-flowing game and when referee Niall Barrett blew the half time whistle, Lisgoold were up 0-10 to 0-6. At the resumption Dungourney roared back into the game and for the most of it, it was a shootout, with John Cashman and Moss O’Connell throwing their weight in. The only goal fell to the ‘Duns’ after a quickly taken free caught our defence napping and low hard shot found the net. It seemed that dungounrey were going to take the points on offer but a super team score which involved Moss, John Cashman, Brian O’Sullivan and finished by Rob Smart ensured a share of the spoils. It was a good hard game, very enjoyable and one hopes that the Hurlers can repeat this in their championship performances for the rest of the year.

Junior Hurling League Division 1

Lisgoold 3-20 (29)
Ballyhea (2) 0-11(11)
At Lisgoold
28th June 2013

We wrapped up our league campaign for 2013 with facile win over a very disinterested Ballyhea team. However it must be noted that thanks to fluent, clever and razor sharp hurling allowed them to cruise to the two points on offer against a side that was pretty much all over the place. John Cronin who notched 1-5 Brian O’Sullivan who got 2-3 (the second a marvellous goal) were aided superbly by Moss O’Connell, John McCarthy and Conor Walsh. It was an easy win but a win none less. That’s our league finished for 2013, we are still not safe due ton other standings in the other group but if results go our way, we be competing in division one again (hopefully) next year. One does hope that the form that they are capable of reproducing like this game, will come to the fore this Saturday night.
