Scaith na Scoil

Leamlara NS 1-0 (3)
Ballindee 1-5 (8)
At Pairc Ui Rinn
29th of May 2013

It was tough luck for Leamlara NS in the Sciath na Scoil Hurling final last Wednesday in a sunny Paric Ui Rinn. Their opposition were extreamly strong at the back which proved to be their bedrock as they succeeded in capturing the title in front of a decent crowd. Roared on by a passionate Leamlara following the blue and gold nearly got a perfect start, when James O’Driscoll and Adrian Browne combined creating a chance for a green flag which couldn’t be taken, another opening came and was missed. One feared that this wouldn’t eventually come against Leamlara and it did. Playing a controlled disciplined style of hurling Ballinadee soared to a 1-3 to 0-0 lead at half-time. With the wind at our backs, Leamlara had a plan for the second half.

Inspired by the likes of Jason Hegarty, Jason Collins,  Evan Manning and Sayef Ziad Leamlara fought back. Plenty of chances were created but were nor converted, Jason Hegarty finally chalked a score as he raised a green flag, however it turned out to be our only score as Ballinadee held out to win deservedly by five. The boys can hold their head up high though after capturing the football title earlier the season, the double just proved elusive this time. They did their school, families and themselves very proud.

Panel: Sayef Ziad, Jason Collins, Robbie Kinane, Evan Manning, Jason Hegarty, Mark Hegarty, Liam Walsh, James O’Driscoll, Aidan Browne, Darragh Casey, Shane Murray, Emmet Roche, Shane McEvoy, Jamie Browne, Dylan O’Shea, Dan Power, Diarmuid Fitzpatrick.
