Aghada GAA Club News

02 May, 2013

They say its all about timing and on Sunday at the seventh attempt the Seniors broke their duck at Division 1 level with a great win over Ballincollig away from home. This victory was coming for a while as we performed well in most games. With the championship looming against Clonakilty on Sat the 11th May, this victory is a great shot in the arm. On Fri evening we entertain Bishopstown at home in the last league game before the championship. A win here would not only boost our championship hopes but would also get us out of the regulation zone.

Sun 28th April S F L Div 1 Aghada 2-9 Ballincollig 2-6
The home got off to a flyer, when they bagged 1-2 with out reply; it was the 13th minute before Aghada opened their account with a minor. Spurred on Aghada got on top and as the short whistle approached we led by 1-4 to 1-3 thanks to a Tony Wall goal.
On turning around we pushed for home and entering the last quarter were four points to the good 1-7 to 1-4 confining to just two minors in 3o minutes of play. Then in a blink of an eye the sides were level as the home side tacked on 1-1 with ten minutes left on the clock. Both ides exchanged points until a Fleming free hit the upright but sub Matt O’Connor was on hand to bellow the net.
