Junior Football;
The second round of games in div 4 of the East Cork Junior football league took place on Tuesday 16th with a home game against Lisgoold.The first half saw us playing against a very stiff breeze and we retired at the half time whistle leading by a point 1.02 to 4 points.
The goal was scored by Philip Considine after a Stewart Creighton effort was saved by the keeper and the point scores were Mikey Walsh and Stewart again this time from a placed ball.
The second half saw Lisgoold come more into the game and playing a fast brand of football they scored the nest 2 points to surge into the lead.
The next score of the game proved vital when Fergal OBrien finished a ground ball to the net following a goalmouth scamble.Cloyne seemed to push on from here and with Killian Cronin and Mickey Walsh well on top at midfield supplying quality ball to the forwards we scored the next 1.04 without reply the goal expertly finished by Ciaran Mullins and points from Luke Cullinane, Killian Cronin, Ciaran Mullins and a Stewart Creighton free.
Lisgoold to their credit never gave up and score the last point of the day to leave the final score Cloyne 3.06 Lisgoold 7 points.

Intermediate Football;
Round 5 of the intermediate football league saw us take on Kanturk at home on Saturday evening last.Kanturk started the brighter and were leading by 1.02 to no score before we realised the game was on. Eventually we upped our game and began winning possession around the middle of the field due mainly to the forceful play of Killian Cronin. Our first score of the game was a Colm O Sullivan goal who tapped home a Diarmuid O Sullivan knockdown.Our improvement around the field saw the introduction of All star midfielder Aidan Walsh but even though he scored an excellent goal his introduction seemed to lift the team and we finished out the half scoring 2 more goals one another tap in for Colm following good approach work from Paudie O Sullivan and an excellent effort from the same player that deceived the Kanturk keeper.Paudie closed out the scoring with an excellent point from play to leave us 2 points to the good 3.02 to 2.3.
Whatever was said to the team at half time certainly had the desired effect as we scored 4 unanswered points in the first 8 minutes of the half, the first an excellent effort from Conor O Lomasney after great defending from Brian McCarthy, Chris Smith sandwiched in 2 frees between this and  a Diarmuid O Sullivan point from play which put 6 points to the good.
Kanturk came thundering into the game and began picking of points at will and with time nearly up had brought the game back to a slender 1 point game.
As the game entered injury time we were dealt a sucker blow as in our efforts to retain possession and play down the clock we conceded a breakaway goal to leave us 2 points in arrears.The last minute of the game saw both sides trade points and try as we might we couldn’t breach the Kanturk defence for the all-important goal with the final score reading Kanturk 3.09 Cloyne 3.07.
Although defeat was our lot this was a satisfactory performance against one of the competition favourites.

Junior Hurling;
A most entertaining game took place on Saturday evening last in Div 2 of the East Cork Junior Hurling league.
A strong wind blew down towards the town end of the field and we played very well into this in the first half to lead at half time by the minimum 1.11 to 3.04.
Playing a very direct brand of hurling with Philip Considine on the edge of the square proving a very effective target man we scored excellent points from both frees and play.Ciaran Mullins and Paul O Sullivan were first on the board with points from play followed by 2 points from Keith Dennehy frees,Philip himself scored the next 2 points the first in particular an excellent score having been created in defence and worked well up the field.Carrigtohill were staying in touch however mainly due to their ability to score goals.Their first attack yielded a goal following a mix up in the Cloyne defence and this was followed shortly after by a very suspiciously looking square goal that was allowed by the referee.Cloyne to their credit responded in excellent fashion and scored 1.04 without reply 3 points from Keith and one from Ciaran and an excellent goal from midfielder Paul O Sullivan when he intercepted a short puck out to solo in and finish with aplomb. Carrigtohill however closed out the half with another goal to leave the half time score Cloyne 1.11 Carrigtohill.3.04
The second half continued with Cloyne scoring the first 2 points both pointed frees by Mike Naughton.Carrigtohill began running at the Cloyne defence and this resulted in the concession of a few frees one which was pointed and the second an opportunistic effort when everyone expected it to be popped over for a point it was expertly finished to the unguarded side of the net.
Frees from Mike and Keith were cancelled out by 2 Carrig points from play before we turned the game on its head 2 goals and a point in a 5 minute spell.
The first goal was scored by Ciaran Mullins following a great catch and effort from Philip Considine that was saved by the keeper, the second goal was expertly finished off the post by Alan Roberts following a goalmouth scramble, Alan followed this up with a point from the next attack following good approach work from Paul Sul and Keith.
Carrigtohill finished out the game with a goal from a close in free to leave the final score Cloyne 3.18 Carrigtohill 5.07
An interesting feature to the game was that Cloyne through Mike Naughton and Keith Dennehy had a 100% success rate from placed balls 8/8.
