JAFC 1st Round

Lisgoold 0-13 (13)
Sarsfields 0-12 (12)
At Riverstown
Sun 7th April 2013

A massive two points earned in Riverstown last Sunday as our blues battled their way to a one point win. Playing a lot sharper and with a lot more drive than in their last encounter we came away after putting in an excellent performance to get a well-deserved win. In the backs we saw Conor Walsh, Patrick O’Mahony and Jer O’Connell playing well. Our midfield pairing of Maurice O’Connell and Barry Ahern had a very productive hour, both contributing to the scoreboard and also giving the platform for our forwards likes of John Cronin and John Cashman to perform. The evergreen Kevin O’Shea did well between the sticks and also contributed handsomely with a clean sheet. It was a tightly contested game and the aforementioned players were key to achieving victory, even a heavyish downpour towards the final quarter of the game could not dampen our spirits as we held out to collect the two points on offer. So, an excellent day in the office for our blues and with a few more league games coming up, one hopes this just wasn’t a flash in the pan.
