Munster Scor Final.

At the Mallow Youth Centre on Saturday night last our Novelty Act crew took to the stage in the  Munster Semi Final against clubs from Kerry and Waterford. When the results were announced we were through to the Munster Final in Templemore on Saturday week April 6th. If we have sufficient interest from supporters we may consider taking a bus. Anyone who would be interested please contact John Arnold asap.

We travelled to Shanballymore for Round 3 with a depleted team on Sunday last. We had a panel of 17 players on the day. A further  14 players who are eligible to play were missing on the day for one reason or another.

We opened the game with the wind advantage and from the throw-in we attackd and  registered our first point from play by Jerome. Following a few good scores by Shanballymore our next attack yielded a goal by Terry. We were under pressure all over the field as Shanballymore registered some excellent points from play and frees. By half-time we trailed by 0-8 to 1-3.

Disaster struck from the restart and an attack up the left wing by Shanballymore  was completed by an excellent goal. From here on we were under extreme pressure and during the second half we registered 4 points to their 7. We had some good attacks but were unlucky not to score 3 goals in one 10 minute period, in each case the final shot drifted inches wide, we were also lucky that Frank was in such excellent form between the posts

The final score was a defeat by 1-15 to 1-7.

Overall the display was very disappointing. If we are to hold our place in Division 1 of  this League we need to get our act together and all players should ensure that they attend the twice weekly training sessions with the Seniors, training this week is on Tuesday and Thursday. Also players should ensure to contact the team management if not available rather than ignoring the situation and failing to turn up for either training or matches.

At present we have no further league games fixed but training will continue and all players should attend, if you are interested in wearing the club colours in the future.

Congratulations to Loreto Convent Fermoy on their great win in the All Ireland A Ladies Football Final. Fermoy defeated Athenry in the final in Nenagh. Team trainer is our own James Ahern- well done James. In total the Bride Rovers Club had nine girls on the panel, well done to each of them. Loreto lost two All Ireland A Finals a few year back this was a great victory for the school.

GAA Season Tickets.

The 2013 GAA Season tickets are now on sale.  The Ticket combines admittance to the National League games and first round championship game for either the Cork Hurling and/or football teams. The Ticket represents a huge saving on the individual ticket prices to each game. Full details on

The Cork Hurlers take on Kilkenny in Nowlan Park on Sunday next in a vital NHL tie. A win will guarantee a semi-final spot, a draw might even do. It's tight at the top of the League with all the 6 teams in with a chance of making the semis - yet any of the same six teams can be relegated!

A reminder that the Membership Fee for 2013 is now due. The Fee is €100 for players and €50 for ordinary Club membership. These are very difficult times financially for so many people so if anyone wants to make arrangements to pay the Membership Fee in staged payments that will be acceptable.

Club Website.

The Bride Rovers GAA Club website is proving popular at home and abroad. If you have any ideas for improving the website or suggestions for additions please contact us. Recently over 100 extra photographs have been added in the Gallery Section as well as extra match reports. If you have any old Club photos we would love to put them up on the website so please contact any Club Officer. We have very few photographs from the 1940's and 1950's and would seek any GAA related pictures taken in the parish during this period. Even photos of groups or individuals at carnivals, tournaments or East Cork games would be very welcome. Also please remind family members scattered all over the world to log in and keep in touch.
