A vital two points were gathered last Sunday afternoon in pairc liosgcul. It was looking bad for us as Cobh had raced into a early lead. However with the like of Charile McCarthy, Moss O’Connell and Conor Walsh in fine form Cobh were limited to six in the opening half. Points from Eoin O’Riordan, John Cronin and John Cashman kept us in touch. In fact we could have been level at half-time if it wasn’t for an excellent save by the Cobh keeper. This was after a sweeping move in which John Cronin hit a lovely cross-field ball to John McCarthy who just couldn’t convert.

The second half saw a more efficient performance from Lisgoold. John Cashman, Brendan Flynn when introduced, Eoin O’Riordan, Cathal Cashman and John Cronin all put in an excellent shift as our defence got on top limiting the men in green to a single point in the half. The key moment came halfways through the half when John Cashmans long range shot found the net, and this swung the tie in our favour. So, a great boost going into Saturdays shown with the saints from Ballynoe. It will be a tough test and one hopes we will come out the right side of it.
