Sun 24th Mar Imokilly/Avondhu J F L Div 1 Aghada 5-4 Carrignavar 6-8
A feast of goals here at Rostellan as we came out the wrong side of the 11 goal saga.
While Carrignavar just shaded the exchanges things could have been different if we could have converted the couple that rebounded off the upright and the crossbar.

Matt O’Connor was on fire and opened the scoring with the first of his majors for the home side after three minutes of play. Tommy Dobbyn was next in line to bag a goal as he put Aghada ahead for the first time. But it was short lived as Carrig responded with two goals of their own and also tagged on four points to lead as we left the opening quarter. It would be another five minutes before Aghada got their opening point and that was from a placed ball by Matt O’Connor. Matt was to add another goal and a point before the short whistle to leave the half time score Carrignavar 4-4 Aghada 3-2 at a bitter cold Rostellan.

Within nine minutes of the restart John Connelly and Raymond Savage goaled and it was back to a two point game but Carrig who play the opening round of the Junior A Football championship next weekend had other ideas and answered Aghada goal for goal. But it was their point taking that really mattered as Martin Hickey fired over ball after ball, while our ability to score points was limited.

Despite this Aghada gave of their all and could have shaded it, only for the paint work.
