U21 Football Semi Final

Hopes were high that Glenville would reach the U21 Final were dashed as a far more committed and slicker Aghada put paid to that. Apart from the opening stages where the score stood at 0-4 to 0-3 the first major from Aghada broke the resistance and from then to half time the Aghada took complete control and dominated in all areas of the pitch. Aghada scored a second goal just on half time and in truth the game was as good as over as a determined Aghada were in no mood to loosen the stranglehold on the game. Glenville improved slightly in the second half but were totally inept and out of sorts in attack. A third goal which was very fortuious put the final nail in any hope of a Glenville resurection. Aidan Foley did get a couple of good scores, Brian Fenton Kevin o Neill and Gavin Cronin did their best to stay competitive but overall a very dissapointing display with way too many fellows underperforming. Well done to Aghada deserving winners no doubt and best wishes in the Final. Final Score Glenville 0-8 Aghada 3-9.

Junior A Football League

On Friday night we hosted Ballinacurra in the league. This was a tough game which wa played in a good spirit al through. With no referee showing for the game we had the unfortunate situation of tossing for referee. Ballinacurra were stronger in the opening stages and we found it hard to stay in the game . Trailing 2-3 to 0-1 after 25 minutes didnt auger well but a Seanie Peters goal near half time boosted our confidence. With a number of introductions at half time our play improved considerably and eventhough we still trailed 3-5 to 1-4 midway through the half we were beginning to improve as the game went by. A number of good scores closed the game and when we goaled with 5 mins to go we looked like likely winners. With the last score and play of the game we pointed a free to level the game and probably ended the right way and both sides had good moments during the game.. Final Score Glenville 2-8 Ballinacurra 2-8.

Feile Football

Well done to the U14 team who did very well last Saturday in the Feile. Glenville played a very strong Nemo side in the first game and lost 2-6 to 0-4. We defeated Mitchelstown 1-4 to 0-2 and drew with Mayfield 0-6 each after a great game. We had to beat St Vincents in the last game to qualify but the long day took its toll and we had to give to a stronger Vincents side 1-5 to 0-3. Well done to everyone on a great day.
