J H L Sec 1 Castlemartyr 0-14 Bride Rovers 2-6

We had our first league game of the new year on Sunday away to Bride Rovers in Rathcormac. The conditions were atrocious and both teams deserve great credit for putting in a very honest effort. We led at half time 0.08 / 0.04 after playing against the wind, Barry Lawton and Brian O Tuama leading the charge with some great scores. The rovers scored a goal from a 60 meter free and shortly added another goal, but we rallied and held on for the win, best on the day Barry Lawton, Liam Martin ,Brian and Donnacha O Tuama. U21 B Football Championship Castlegoold 2-13 Bride Rovers 0-02

Castlemartyr teamed up with Lisgoold to enter this years U21 football championship and had an easy first round win over Bride Rovers in Castlelyons last Saturday. It was one way traffic from the start with the result never in doubt. Both goals came from Lisgoold players, Cian Scanlon and Killian Kingston.  Castlemartyr players who stood out were Barry Lawton at midfield, Colm Beausang at wing forward who set up a goal and Jamie Stack who was accurate as ever from frees. Lisgoold also have some stand out displays from John Cashman, Cahal Cashman, Brendan O’Flynn and John McCarthy.

This win sees us into the semi final where we will play Dungourney with players who won a minor county together last year with Kiltha Og now facing each other on opposing sides. Friendships will have to be put to one side for the hour with a place in the East Cork final the reward for the victors.

Annual Club Social
Our annual club social will take place this year on Easter Saturday night, March 30th in Shortts Bar. As usual we will be presenting awards to our players of the year for 2012 as well as the Frank McLellan club person of the year. There will be entertainment as well as food on the night so good craic is guaranteed. The night will get under way at 9pm and everyone is welcome!!
