Sat 26th Tadhg Crowley Cup 2013 Senior Football Aghada 1-7 St Finbarr’s 1-13

Aghada senior footballers put in a strong performance in Togher against the Barrs. The game was switched to Togher due to flooding of the pitch in Rostellan.

While the result went against us there were many positive aspects to the performance. The game was won for the Barrs in the first ten minutes of the second half when the home side hit a number of points to edge ahead.

Aghada began the game strongly, in filthy conditions, and played some very encouraging football. The game was even for most of the first half but the Barrs edged in front due to a goal just before the break, Cian Fleming and Trevor O Keeffe were busy racking up the scores along with another great point from Kieran O Connor after a fine team move.

H/T Barrs 1-4 Aghada 0-5

The Barrs got away to a flier after the restart and looked to have the game in the bag until a spirited fight back including a fine penalty strike from Cian closed the gap to three points. The home team picked off a few more scores before Ronan Kennedy scored our last point.

Overall, a good performance despite the result with a lot of promise showed going forward.
