Santa match raises €2000 for charity

 

Over the xmas period probably the first in its kind Glenville GAA and a team made up of Santas

drew a huge crowd to Fouhy Park Glenville on New years Day.  Conditions were perfect for the event

Refereed by local reiteoir Denis o Leary the game was played in great spirit and with both teams intent in

winning the inaugural Cup. In the end of the hour the sides finished level with a late Sante goal brought

the game to a penalty shoot out and the Santas provailed 8 to 7 . Chairman of the Samarations Pio Fenton

was unable to be there on the occasions but the cup was presented to Stephen Cronin by Pio s mother Gobnait

who thanked all the people who donated to make this event an outstanding success. This will be an annual

event in the social calander and the generousity from all donaters was greatly appreciated. Over €2000 was

collected and all proceeds were donated to the Samarations.
