Castlelyons GAA Annual General Meeting

The Annual General Meeting Castlelyons GA club will take place at 8.00pm on Friday 30th November at the Community Centre.  All members are asked to attend.

Junior Hurling League, Div 3, Final.
Castlelyons 0-8 v Midleton 4-10
The Junior Hurling team played Final of the league at home against Midleton.  Midleton were by far the better team on the day and were very comfortable winners.
Castlelyons failed to score in the first quarter and Midleton built up a score of one goal and three points. Things were slightly better in the second quarter as Chris Cotter, Ronan O’Regan and Shane Hickey put over a point each.  However Midleton continued to add to their total and led by 2-5 to 0-3 at half time.
The Castlelyons lads upped their game on the resumption of play scored two points to reduce the lead to two goals. Midleton responded and in a matter of four minutes had increased their score by three points.
Three points put over by Shane Hickey, one from play and two from frees, brought the difference back to two goals.  Midleton’s overall dominance came through again as they broke down our defence and scored two goals in the twenty second and twenty fifth minutes.
Midleton went on to put in two more point and Castlelyons failed to score in the last five minutes.  The final outcome of this game became clear from an early stage of the game.  On major difference between the sides was that Castlelyons went out of the championship back in September and Midleton went on to play three more championship games and win the final two weeks ago.
However this was a big achievement for Castlelyons getting to the league final having won Section 1.  The result of this is that Castlelyons will play in Division 2 of the League next year.  Well done to all the players, it was a long season.  Well done also to the management team, John Healy, Michael O’Donovan and William O’Sullivan.
