Haulie Donnelly R.I.P. Cup presentation.
The Cork County Board was presented with a new cup in memory of the late Haulie Donnelly (Fr. O'Neill's) RIP.Haulie was one of the great sons of the parish of Ballymacoda/Ladysbridge, and his name was synonymous with the GAA in the parish for many years. He was a member of the club Committee for thirty years, a delegate to the East Cork Board for twenty five years, had been involved as a selector at various levels in the club, and had rarely missed a game, whether it was U12 or Premier Intermediate. He was a constant presence at Aghavine when the club was hosting a game and will be remembered for his involvement in the preparation of the playing field and the raising of the Club flag, a flag of which he was so proud, and kept at his family home, where he also repaired hurleys for players of all ages.Haulie saw the club go through poor times, reaching numerous East Cork finals but failing to win and wondering whether he would ever see O' Neill's making the breakthrough. Haulie witnessed this breakthrough in 1996 when Dick O' Neill raised the Jamsey Kelleher cup in Killeagh in what was the first of many firsts for the club. There was no prouder man the following Wednesday night at the East Cork Board meeting where it was and still is customary for the winners to address their fellow board delegates and representatives of the other clubs in the division. Haulie's speech that night still rates as the most passionate speech ever at a board meeting. Ten years later, in 2006, even though having retired as a delegate, the club honoured Haulie by asking him to bring the All-Ireland Junior Hurling cup to the fortnightly board meeting. These would have been two of his proudest moments as a member of the Club. Haulie was Vice-President of Fr. O'Neill's Club at the time of his death, August 6th 2010. He is survived by his wife Mary, daughter Carmel, and sons John and Gerard. The beautiful new cup which bears his name was presented to the Chairman of the Cork Co.Board Mr.Bob Ryan at a function held in Ballymacoda Hall on Fri.night last the 19th by Mrs.Mary Donnelly on behalf of the Donnelly family which in turn was presented to Kilworth, winners of the Rochestown Park Hotel Intermediate Hurling Lge.Div.1 Final last Sat.evening in Riverstown.Invited Guests on the night also included Mr.Ger.Lane Vice-Chairman Co.County Board,Ms.Tracey Kennedy P.R.O.Cork Co.Board,Mr.Liam O Laocha Cultural Officer Cork Co.Board,Mr.Mike O Brien Chairman East Cork Coard and Mr.Dick Fitzgerald Vice-Chairman East Cork Board.

Fé15 PREMIER 1 HURLING CO.CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL
FR.O NEILLS  2:12  BLACKROCK  0:11
On a crisp sunny October morning Fr O Neill’s faced the mighty Blackrock in the Premier 1 County Final.  The famous St Finbarr’s grounds in Togher was the venue. After losing out to the same opposition in three finals in 2011 Fr O Neill’s knew it would take a something special to turn things around. From the time referee Michael O Harrington threw in the ball this game was fiercely  contested no quarter was asked or given. After taking the lead with the first point from a free from the reliable Declan Dalton. Fr.O Neill’s missed a few chances and allowed Blackrock to take control of the game and take the lead but in the twentieth minute, Ger Millerick doubled on a ground ball and as it broke inside, Billy Dunne ran through to place a ground stroke in the corner of the net. This restored a narrow advantage in favour of Fr.O Neill’s and after that they hurled with more confidence. O Neill’s led at half time 1 05 to 0 06. Scores from play were hard to come by, such was the ferocity of the tackling on both sides. In the fortieth minute Declan Dalton scored Fr O Neill’s second goal after Billy Dunne ran through from the forty and hand passed to Dalton, who still had work to do before he buried the sliotar in the Blackrock net. This put 6 points between the sides, but Blackrock fought back and closed to gap 3 points. They pushed hard for a goal but the Fr.O Neill backs were brilliant on the day and when Blackrock breached the rearguard our goalie Conor O Driscoll was not letting anything pass. Micheal Millerick was particularly impressive in a strong backline and Mark Motherway did his job well. A gracious Declan Dalton received the Daniel O Sullivan Cup from the Central Board Chairman Mr.Jim Forbes.
