Junior C Football
Glenville entered the championship arena on Sunday afternoon with a first round game against Lisgoold. Eventhough this was Glenville third string selection we still had a good panel available and were extremely busy over the last few weeks with a series of games played. The game began with Glenville on top and raced into a three point lead courtesy of Aidan Foley. Lisgoold worked the ball well and scored a goal against the run of play. Almost immediately Cathal Whelan found the net after a great pass from Brian Cosgrove. At the break we were level 1-3 each and it was anybodys game. Lisgoold nudged ahead early in the second half and had us in the back foot. Glenville found it difficult to regain control as we gave the ball away too much and were punished when we conceded with ten minutes to go and the dye looked truly cast. In fairness we never gave us and an Aidan Foley goal near the end brought us to within a point but try as we might we could not get the equaliser after a few misses. Final score 2-5 to 2-4 in Lisgoolds favour. We now play St Catherines on Friday night to remain in the championship and a win here is a must. Time and venue to be confirmed.

U16 Football
Glenville U16 team qualified for the U16 A league final with a comprehensive win over Passage when the sides met last weekend. This game was over as a contest early on as we scored 3-3 inside the opening 10 minutes. Further scores from Daniel Fitzgerald, Colm Fenton Adam Murphy signalled a very strong position at the break. Passage came much more into the game in the second half and managed to get the opening two second half scores. Eventhough the second half was much more competitive the damage in the opening half was too much to claw back. In the end Glenville ran out victors Glenville 7-14 Passage 1-6.

U15 Football
Busy times indeed for this group of players as they had two games over the week gone by. Inniscarra were our opponents in the first round of the U15 P2 FC. This was a good game of football with Inniscarra very unlucky to be behind at the break. Early scores from Josh Cooke PJ Dennehy Dilan Donovan and an Adam Murphy goal settled us but Inniscarra were strong and organised and quickly moved the ball up field where they managed to score a goal after a mistake on our park. Eoin Hammond had a fine game in goals making a number of top class saves which would have signalled an Inniscarra lead. In the second half we opened up. A series of scores early in the second half opened up a gap and when PJ and Adam goaled in quick sussession the gap was too great to surmount. Inniscarra tried away to the end and deserved to be much closed then the 4-15 to 1-6 eventual winning margin. We now face Aghada in the County Quarter Final which should be a great game against our old adversaries. Scorers Adam Murphy 2-5, Josh Cooke 0-4 PJ Dennehy 1-3 Kyle Cronin 1-2 Denis Hegarty 0-1. We play Ballinora on this Thursday night in the Final in Fouhy Park at 7pm.

On Friday night we made the trip to Bishopstown to face the home side in the league playoff. Bishopstown were well up for this game and they threatened to overrun us early on with their strong physical play. They led 1-3 to no score before an Aaron Collins point settled us. Adam Murphy then got two goals in rapid sussession. Dilan Donovan goaled from a penalty right on half time and we led 4-2 to 1-5. The second half was equally as tough as Bishopstown were a constant treat but Denis Hegarty Aaron Collins Dave o Flynn in good form In defence keeping the pressure at bay. Josh Cooke, Dylan Mccarthy Pierce Maloney kept the scoreboard ticking with good scores to relieve the pressure. A few scary moments followed as Bishopstown laid siege at our goal. Time ran out and Glenville move on to the league semi final where we meet Nemo Rangers or Valley Rovers. Well done lads on two good wins. Glenville 4-7 Bishopstown 1-10. Scorers Adam Murphy 3-0, Josh Cooke 0-2, PJ Dennehy 0-1,Dilan Donovan 1-3, Dylan McCarthy 0-1

U12 Football
Both Glenville A and B under 12 sides were in action over the past week with another heavy schedule keeping them on their toes.
After an easy win over Brian Dillons in the league playoff Glenville second team had to travel to Carrignavar to face the home side in the league semi final. This was always going to be a tough game for our side as the advantage on size and age was heavily on the Carrignavar side. Glenville to their credit had some excellent performers and showed tremendous commitment and skill. Sean Desmond and Daire o Leary had great returns and the introduction of Eoin Foley and James o Leary both of whom are U10 made a massive difference. Gavin Gowen and Shane o Reilly were well on top in defence while Rob McKenna in goals was a revelation. Glenville found themselves down two points midway through the second half but two goals in a minute gave us a great boost and knocked the heart out of Carrig. Try as they might Carrig just could not find a way past the Glenville defence as we held out for a famous victory. Glenville 3-6 Carrignavar 2-6.

The final was against Lisgoold and as we lost the toss we had to travel to our opponents venue. The first half was very tight with scores very hard to come by. Glenville through Sean Desmond opened the scoring while lisgoold replyed with a similar score. As this team kept improving we conceded a soft goal but a Shane Reilly goals just on the half hour only left us a point behind. The game was won just after halftime as Lisgoold scores 3-2 in a two minute spell which looked liked they would canter to an easy win but Glenville showed great spirit to haul themselves back from four goals down. A tremendous fight back just fell short as time ran out but Glenville played themselves to a standstill but in fairness Lisgoold was marginally stronger on the day. Final score Glenville 3-5 Lisgoold 4-6.
The A side played Whitechurch in bitterly cold conditions in Whitechurch in the league and after a great game of football were on the wrong end on a 3-9 to 2-11 scoreline. A late flourish from Whitechurch gave them the spoils.

U11 Football

Glenville U11 Footballers had an eventful Sunday morning in lovely bright conditions with a blitz in Fouhy Park with Buttevant Fermoy Carrigtwohill and Kilshannig also taking part. The standard was very high and also the closeness of the standard of all teams ment that we had close competitive games all through. Thanks to all the teams for making the trip and the juvenile committee who organised the blitz.
