Tue 25th Sept S F L Div 2 Aghada 2-11 St Vincent’s 1-5

Our Senior footballers Qualified for the Div 2 league final against either Bantry Blues or Clonakilty with a fine win over an St Vincent’s side that are in the Premier Intermediate final. Aghada started well and were two points up after five minutes. The city boys hit back with two points but then Jose O’Shea put daylight between the sides when he drew on a loose ball around the square. Shortly after that Conor O’Driscoll planted a beauty and Aghada were away in a hack. Cian Fleming added a minor from a placed ball to St Vincent’s two to leave the score at the short whistle Aghada 2-3 St Vincent’s 0-4.

Aghada now playing with the wind added two points from the boots of Conor O’Driscoll and Jose O’Shea. Then came the city rally a goal and a point had it back to a three point game, but a Jose point on the 46 m steadied the home side for there till the end it was all Aghada as we tacked on five points on the bounce. Eoin Healy, Brendan Flaherty and Pearse were outstanding indeed only for the few minutes in the second half all the backs were well on top.
