Games played

Thursday night last Glenville travelled to Aghada to play the home side in the Co FL Div 2. The concession of  1-2 just on half time was our undoing as we were level before this. Aghada were well up for this game as a win here would put them in the League Final against Clonakilty. Aghada maintained the lead in the second and try as we might we couldn’t manage to haul the lead back. Glenville have one last game away to Clyda on this Tuesday night.
Glenville travelled to Dublin on Saturday morning for the All Ireland 7s Intermediate Football in Ratoath. Glenville performed very well and with a bit of luck could have made further progress. Glenville played early in the morning and hit the ground running with Brendan Maloney and Sean o Callaghan doing well to the art of goal scoring. Two intense games against Ballyconlar Galway and Eire Og Carlow followed and two good performances here gave us a tilt at Skerries Harps home to Dublin captain Brian Cullen to see who would progress further. We ended our trail here with a one point defeat but the experience and event itself was well worth the journey. Well done to the 10 players who performed with great spirit.Team Shane Bergin, Denis Buttimer, Dave Quirke, Noel Cahill, Brendan Maloney, Colm Murphy, Mike o Donoghue, Eoin o Reilly, Sean o Callaghan, Brendan Healy.
Moy from Tyrone with a panel consisting of Tyrone Senior players Sean Kavanagh, Colm Kavanagh, Ryan Mallon and Philip Jordan won out the competition.

On Monday night the Junior 3 footballers played a league game away to Carrignavar. This was a hard fought game with Glenville giving a very good account of themselves. Glenville found themselves four down at half time but recovered well to close the gap to a point but Carrig closed out the game at the end for a two point win 0-8 to 0-6.

On Friday evening Glenville U16s turned in a great display defeating Glanmire in Fouhy Park 3-17 to 2-12 it finished. Glenville now play Passage in the league semi final. This game is due to be played this Saturday in Glenville. Check time locally.
The same night we had U9s in Kilworth, and U8/7s in Rathcormac. A big panel turned out for both games and all performed very well.
Friday was also a busy night for the U12 C team with a league playoff against city side Brian Dillons. After a slow start Glenville started to get into their stride and at half time even though well on top we still only lead by a point 0-7 to 1-0. Things opened up in the second half and Glenville ran out easy winners. Glenville now meet Carrignavar in the semi final on Thursday night at 6pm in Carrignavar. Glenville A team play Erins Own on Monday night at 6pm in the league in Glenville.
On next Sunday morning in Fouhy Park Glenvile are hosting an U11 Football blitz with Fermoy ,Kilshannig Buttevant and Carrigtwohill also taking part. A great mornings football is assured. Teams to assemble at 10am.
