Lisgoold GAA Club News

25 September, 2012

Our congratulations must to the stalwarts of Donegal as they capture Sam after a 20 year lapse. The Donegal man in our parish Gavin O’Brien, (whom is heavily active in our club) was surely swept up with emotion as they men form the North West succeeded past a (what is coming be to be constantly at all-Ireland final day) luckless Mayo team by four points. It was inspiring to see to see that you don’t need history, huge numbers, or large resources to achieve great things. Hunger, commitment, and a positive attitude can go a long way and yesterday can aspire small clubs around the country that anything is possible once these three characteristics are shown.

Ladies Football County Final

Hopefully Gavin would have calmed down from the euphoria of last Sunday to take charge and lead (with the help of his fellow selectors Jer O’Connell & Noel Connery) the junior ladies football team on their quest to attain a unique league & championship double. They have been preaching to the group with a Jim McGuiness ethos on positive attacking football, which has paid huge dividends. After capturing the league title in May against Mayfield they will hope to get the second piece of silverware for the season. They will be playing St. Peter’s in the County final this Saturday at 5pm venue is to be confirmed at time of writing, so please check locally for venue. Please support this group of players as they go for glory!!

Junior C Hurling

We would like to wish the Junior C Hurlers in their championship fixture vs. Midleton which is on this weekend. Please check locally as details have yet to be confirmed at time of writing. Best of luck Lads!!
