Killeagh GAA Notes

26 April, 2009

This week saw both our Senior and Junior A hurlers in league action. On Thursday night last the Seniors travelled to Church Road to play Blackrock. It was more like a winter's evening than a spring evening which meant that conditions under foot were quite slippy to say the least. Both sides traded early scores with Joe Deane netting early in the first half. We went in at half time 1-7 to Blackrock's 0-8. We started well in the second half with some long range points and excellent defending but failed to put real daylight between us until substitute Larry Colins goaled. Full time score Killeagh 2-14 Blackrock 0-14.
Junior A Hurling League - On Sunday evening Erin's Own were the visitors to Pairc Uí Chinnéide in Killeagh. In the early exchanges Erin's Own were the stronger side and at one stage were 1-5 to 0-3 in front but Eoghan Loughlin scored a well taken goal to keep us in touch. Half Time score was Erin's Own 1-7 to Killeagh 1-4. The second half saw us take command, Shane Scully scoring two great goals and Eoghan Loughlin scoring his second, while Mark Landers also put over 3 good points. A good second half performance saw Killeagh win on a scoreline of 4-7 to 1-11.
SENIOR HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP - On Sunday evening next all roads out of the parish will lead to Ballynoe with our first round championship decider against last year's County finalists Bride Rovers at 4pm. Mallow and Youghal open the proceedings at 2:30 in the Premier Intermediate Championship First Roundand a large crowd is expected so allow for delays. At this stage we would like to wish all those involved the very best of luck. Your support would be greatly appreciated.
There was no winner of the GAA Lotto, the numbers were 1,17, 20. The jackpot now stands at €1,200.
