Glenville GAA

The week gone by was dominated by Junior Football action with the Junior 3 Footballers very busy on the playing field. We had two away games to Cloyne and Lisgoold . Travelling to Cloyne was always going to be a tough game and we still put up a good show but unfortunately we lost out to a late rally from the home side. The game finished up 2-9 to 1-10. Glenville had good performances from  Ian o Leary, Eoin Lynch Eamon Counihan, Cathal Whelan who scored 1-2 from play Colm Murphy and Mossie Keane. Then on Monday night we made the short journey to Lisgoold a winning one with a much better showing. We led 1-3 to 0-3 at the break but were well on top in the second half eventhough Lisgoold were still dangerous going forward. Glenville with sterling displays from John o Connell, Mossie o Keeffe, John Forde, Joe Colloty Aidan Foley Robert Kelleher who scored two good points in his first adult game and Brian Cosgrove were the key men and showed the way in slippery conditions. In the end we won out Glenville 1-7 Lisgoold 0-5. This win brings us to 3rd in the league with 3 wins from 6 games. These same two teams clash in the Junior C Football championship shortly. Glenville have two remaining games in this league v Carrignavar and Russell Rovers both at home. In the Junior A Football league we still have Fr o Neills and Castlelyons to play and again both are at home.

The Premier Intermediate Footballers play Na Piarsaigh away on this Thursday night in the league. Throw in is at 7.30pm. The same competition on Tuesday 17th we face Aghada also away at 7.30.
On Saturday Sept 22nd we take part in the All Ireland 7s football Intermediate in Ratoath in Co Meath.

Glenville U16 Footballers were due to play Macroom in the league also on Monday night in the league but Macroom failed to field so we now have one remaining game left v Ballincollig. This game is in Glenville on Monday night next. A win here would guarantee a semi final place.
The U12 A Footballers played Mitchelstown on Saturday afternoon in the league. What a glorious day for a game with sunshine making the game and the mood so much more enjoyable. Glenville without a game for some time played very well and won out in the end by 4-14 to 3-9. Well done to Mitchelstown on making the trip and playing with great discipline and spirit.
The U12 C team will play Brian Dillons in the playoff of the league . Winners meet Carrignavar in the semi final. This is a great achievement seeing as its our second team.
On Friday night coming the U9 footballers host Clyda Rovers, Fermoy and Kilworth in Fouhy Park in a blitz. Kick off is at 6.30.

The parish leagues kick off this Wednesday night in Fouhy Park. All players between U12 to U6 are asked to attend at 6.45pm.
