BRIDE ROVES GAA CLUB NOTES.

SENIOR HURLING ON SATURDAY.

On this coming Saturday afternoon we fight for survival atthe Senior Grade of the Cork County Championship for 2013. We face Cloyne inthe 2012 Relegation Final in Pairc Ui Rinn. The winners of this game willparticipate in the County Senior HC in the coming year. The losers will beregraded to the Premier Intermediate grade. When we won the County IntermediateTitle in 2003 we went up Senior for the first time in the Club's history. Sincethen we've competed at the highest level and have given some magnificentdisplays. We reached the County Final in 2008 and lost by a point. We alsoreached two Senior League Finals, a Munster Senior League Final and East CorkSenior Final. Unfortunately we lost all these games by very small margins. Itwas the same in this years County Senior Hurling Championship campaign. We tookon Erins Own in the first round in Carrigtwohill and lost by a solitary point. In our Round Two game in Pairc UI Rinn Na Piarsaigh defeated us by three pointsand the margin against Blackrock was similar in Round Three. All these threegames could easily have been won, especially the Blackrock game where we werewell in control at half time. Our big problem has been consistency or lack of itwhen it comes to scoring. WE scored no goal in any of our three championshipgames this year. In the Erins Own game we got 19 points, just 10 against NaPiarsaigh and 14 versus Blackrock.  AtSenior level a team needs to be regularly scoring 126 to 20 points per game. Our task on Saturday is a mammoth one as we face Cloyne. Cloyne have contestedthree Senior County Finals in a row and are physically a very strong side/We've never before met Cloyne in the Senior Championship. Back in the 1970's wehad some great games at East Cork Junior level with Cloyne. The RelegationFinal is the Final that no team wants to qualify for but when  we're in it we must try and win it. It wontbe easy but we are in with a good chance - go for it lads.

The game is timed for 3.45 in Pairc UI Rinn on this Saturdaycoming September the 15th.

MINOR FOOTBALLERS WELL BEATEN.

Our Minor Football team departed from the County Championshipat Carrignavar on Wednesday evening last. We faced a very strong Ballinora team who had beaten us well in theLeague earlier this season. Our lads gave their all but we were overwhelmed bythe Mid Cork side. The final scoreline was Ballinora 6 10 Bride Rovers 1  7.

Team & scorers Frank Hogan, Eoin Howard, Jacob Macak,Podge Noonan, Sean Cotter, Shane Walsh (1 0), Jack Kearney, Cian O Connor, , Dave Quinn, Liam O Leary, (0 1),JamieBuckley, William Finnegan (0 4), Tadhg O Sullivan, Dean Linehan(0 1), Stephen OLeary. Subs; Ryan Prendergast,  DarrenMoore (0 1), James Barry, Colm Howard, Cian Siuil.

This was a disappointing end to the season for the Minorplayers. This year the players mentors, trainers and selectors put in a hugeeffort. A record number of training sessions were held and we played more minorgames this year than in any of the last three seasons.
