League Win for Minors
Premier 2 Minor Hurling League
Castlelyons 4-14 V Cloyne 3-9
The minors played at home against Cloyne in the Premier 2 League hurling League and had a clear win.
A first minute goal by Ronan O’Regan set Castlelyons off on a good footing and by the end of the first quarter were 2-4 to 1-2 in the lead.  The second goal came in the fourteenth minute when Tom Carroll gained possession about thirty metres out and with a downward stroke hopped the ball into the net.
Castlelyons continued to dominate for the rest of the half.  The backs defended well and held the opposition scoreless from the thirteenth to the twenty fourth minute.    At half time they had a commanding score of 3-8 to 1-3.
Tom Carroll opened the scoring with a point in the second half and Alan Fenton followed with a fourth goal in the fifth minute.  By the end of the third quarter Castlelyons had increased the lead to fifteenth points, 4-12 to 1-6.
However Cloyne never gave up and came at the Castlelyons defence right up to the final whistle.  By then they had reduced the margin down to eight points.
Overall this was a fine performance from Castlelyons.  In all seven players scored.  The defence was solid.  Well done to all.
