Also included are Youghal track management, organising committee members and juvenile club “dog handlers”.

Junior Hurling;
The first round of the Junior A East Cork hurling championship saw us take on Cobh in a cold and windy Ballinacurra on Thursday night last.
Playing with the aid of the breeze in the first half we got off to a great start with an excellent point from midfielder Nial Donovan straight from the throw in and coupled with 2 Dave Ring frees we raced into a 3 point lead. Cobh gradually settled and with their free taker in great form they got themselves back into the game to lead by 2 points at the break 8 points to 6.
The heavy and in places waterlogged pitch didn’t lend itself to pretty hurling but the exchanges were tough and intense and everything you would expect from championship hurling.
Cobh started the second half in determined fashion and began picking off their points from play and frees and when they goaled from a goalmouth scramble our task grew even more difficult.We benefited from a few positional switches and with an improved supply of ball to our forwards we began to eat into Cobhs lead and when Graham Fleming goaled from a great overhead strike it was game on again. This goal seemed to spur on Cobh more than us and they tacked on points from their impressive full forward and scoring frees from some Cloyne indiscipline they ran out worthy winners on the scoreline of 1.20 to 1.10.
On a difficult night for hurling on a heavy pitch we battled bravely and never gave up, special mention to Nial Donovan and Vincent Cusack who hurled especially well on the night.
Next up in round 2 is a meeting with the losers of the Lisgoold v St Itas first round tie.

Commiserations to the Cork senior hurlers who were agonisely beaten by Tipperary in the Munster semi-final last Sunday.Well done to Paudie O Sullivan who played very well and contributed 3 excellent points on the day.This was a very encouraging display by a new look Cork side and the remaining teams in the qualifiers wont relish being drawn against them in the next round.
Best Wishes and a speedy recovery to both Domhnall O Sullivan and David Jermyn who both sustained nasty facial injuries in a practice football game over the weekend.
