Glenville GAA News

Glenville made to trip to Cobh to take on the home side in the U14 A Football championship. Glenville forced to line out without Cathal Maloney and Dan Dennehy were under pressure against a very strong Cobh side, but in fairness stuck to the task well and put in  a very good display all through. With Thomas Dinan very competitive at centre back it was a good platform to start numerous attacks. Only for the excellence of the Cobh goalkeeper Glenville would have gained a strong position as he saved brilliantly on numerous occasions. Still in all we were well in the game at half time with Aaron Collins getting two well taken goals. Trailing by only a point 2-4 to 2-5. The second half we were again in a strong position and looked much the better side but still found Cobhs last line of defence in reluctant mood. The team in which Neil Meehan and Pierce Maloney were in great form in defence kept pushing forward but the scores just did not come regularly enough . Excellent scores from James Gowan keeping us in touch. Late on Cobhs great strength shone through with two goals in a minute to effectively kill off this tie. Final Score Glenville 2-9 Cobh 4-9. Glenville still have a number of league games to play and will be played as soon as possible. Also Billy Kennedy who was having a great game in the corner received a nasty injury and we wish Billy a speedy recovery from his broken arm.

Fermoy were visitors on Friday night for games at U8/7 and 6. Fouhy Park was full to the rafters with players from both sides and a well organised series of games were ran off. Thanks to Fermoy for making the trip out.
