Glenville GAA

This weekend Glenville Premier Intermediate Footballers play their second round of the Championship with another tough opponent in Macroom. Macroom one of the favourites for the competition will be a serious test and with three current members of the Cork Senior Football panel the task in hard does not get much tougher. Glenville lost out to Valley Rovers in the opening round and football commitments have been much restricted due to the hurling over the past number of weeks. Blarney is the venue with a 6.15pm throw in due to the Clyda v Mayfield after it and again support would be very much appreciated.

The past week was concentrated with juvenile action with the U10 Footballers taking part in a competition in Dromtariffe with 16 teams taking part from all over Cork and Kerry. Glenville had 3 games and had victories over Aghinagh 4-5 to 1-3 Macroom 4-13 to 0-1 and Boherbue 6-6 to 1-4. Glenville now progress to the finals this Saturday again in Dromtariffe. The team also had a challenge game v St Nicks during the week and lost out against a very strong Glen side.
The U9s played two games last week with Erins Own and Cobh both travelling to Glenville. Again Glenville played very well in both games with the main objective everyone getting a run out.
U12 action on Saturday saw the first side travel to Ballygarvan to play the home side and they ran out 5-10 to 1-5 with a strong second half compiled with Ballygarvan failing to score in this half. Also in terrible conditions we defeated Ballinhassig 5-8 to 4-3 in the league on Saturday morning last.
The second team came up against strong opposition in Lisgoold and were 1-5 to 1-1 ahead at the break. The concession of goals in the second half was our downfall and we lost out 1-6 to 4-1 in the end. The Whites Cross game was called off due to weather on Wednesday night. The only remaining fixture is against Carrignavar which will conclude the league programme for the U12 sides.

The U15 side also had a game against St Michaels over the past week and this was a tough game for our side winning out eventually by a single point ofther a very worthwhile game.

The U14 Footballers are in the championship arena with an away game v Cobh on Tuesday night next in Cobh. A league game at home in Fouhy Park v Kiltha og on this Wednesday night will see the teams last run before championship so best of luck to all concerned.

Jackpot now is €5200 as they was no winner of last weeks lotto. Consolation prize winners were
